Public Library to Offer Downloadable Audio Books and MP3 Players

mp3-audio-book.jpg

The Southington Public Library will begin to offer patrons audio book downloads as well as an MP3 player to borrow if needed. The books will be expiring after three weeks but can be renewed just like book. At first they plan on making five books available to down load via their website and plan to add 30 new titles a month. They may be using Microsoft’s ‘Janus’ DRM due to the fact that they state in the article that users can download to “Windows computer or PDA”. Now can some generous philanthropist give the Southington Public Library money to start to a music collection?

The New York Public Library is already doing this, and has a large selection of downloadable audio books.
