Ever wanted to know exactly what is inside of an MP3 player? TGDaily has a nice write up on what exactly goes into the iRiver H10. From the PP5020 Digital Media Management System-on-Chip to the Seagate ST1 5 GByte mass storage device the article gives you a complete teardown.

The design quality of the iRiver H10′s insides has not gone unnoticed in the industry. In fact the H10 was awarded Semiconductor Insights’ 2005 Insight Award for “Best MP3 Player Technology” beating out the nominated Apple iPod mini, Creative Zen Micro, and Rio Carbon.

Hmm. I’m still very sketchy on the new iRivers, what with the lack of good non-mp3 codec support, and other things that seem to make them somewhat of a retreat from the older generation of iRivers. The new ones don’t have a connection for an external mic either, eh?

I have teh H10 5gb verison. I suggest getting it. It is well worth your money. I got mine for only 170.00$. I got the firmwire update but then I changed the player to UMS from MTP. No freezing has occured yet.

Yea I bought the Iriver H10 6gb on Ebay for around $80. It is used but works awesome and came w/ everything it would have if bought new. I would also recommend it to anyone looking for a good player w/ great sound. My friend already went out and got one on Ebay after he saw mine. It does have its flaws but is great for its price compared to an ipod. I like the features it has over ipod like FM radio and recording capability.

I recently bought one of these, a 20gb version. It was smaller than I expected. The sound quality is good and build quality is also good. It does have a few bugs but iRiver shall be releasing new firmware to fix this. I would recommend this to player anyone looking for a 20gb jukebox with good sound – this has SRS WOW which is the good thing about iRivers :) and plus an FM tuner & recorder, excellent player.

I had a similar problem with my 20gb, it worked brilliantly for more than 2 years until one day it just stopped working. Same thing happened, computer doesnt recognise it.
