2007 Infiniti G35 with In-dash Hard Drive and Compact Flash

The soon to hit the streets 2007 Nissan Infiniti G35 will come equipped with an internal hard drive for direct CD ripping. The internal hard drive is said to be a “9.5G”. It is unclear whether that means it’s capacity is 9.5 gigabytes or it is the model number. Nor is there mention of what file types audio gets ripped to. The sound system includes a 24-bit Burr Brown used in home theatre setups for the audiophiles, door mounted Bose 10” subwoofers for the bassheads, and what looks to be a memory slot for the geeks.

The photos of the center console show a slot labeled “compact flash” but the article mentions nothing of this. Possibly additional music storage, photo viewing, GPS companion, firmware updating, or [insert your own theory].

I am hoping for the flash drive to add expansion like full ipod control. Even bluetooth stereo input. I can only dream at this point.

You can copy MP3′s (or WMA’s) from you computer to the CF. Insert the CF into the slot in your car and you can listen to your music. Limited to one level of folders.

I have a 2007 G35x with NAV and was attempting to find out addition technical specs for the Compact Flash reader. Here is what I’ve found so far since I couldn’t find any of this information on the web previously. This is why I’m being nice and posting this information for everyone else out there…* Use only Compact Flash Type 1* Flash must be formatted FAT32* Car will read up to 16GB card* Car will only read one directory level down from the root directory* Car will only read the first 250 folders or 600 songs, whatever comes first. I have found with the current folder/song limitations that you wouldn’t need any more than 4GB card. Any more and you are just wasting your money!* Suggestion is to buy a few 4GB Type 1 cards and split up your library into 250 folder/600 song collections.Good Luck! Hope this helps everyone!

Rick, I also have a 2007 G35 with the Navigation system. My question with the Compact Flash is I can’t seem to get the folders to work right. All the music I’ve loaded on the CF card has correct tag information (artist, album, song).. but when I put the card in my car it only shows songs and albums. I can’t back up to the artist folders. So basically all I can do is see all the albums. Whats the deal here? I’ve tried everything. Infiniti is worthless when it comes to help with this stuff.
