There have been plenty of research groups conducting “studies” saying that mobile phones put a dent in dedicated MP3 player sales by integrating digital audio playback in the near future. This will not happen anytime soon for the same reasons that mobile phones have not yes hurt the digital camera market. I am not saying that it will never happen, but it is years away.
None the less LG’s new phone quite a few audio features for a mobile phone. This includes a front panel display with controls, MicroSD slot (now up to 2GB), D2DP Bluetooth audio, MP3/WMA/AAC codec support, and even an FM transmitter. The phone will sell for $330 or $180 with a 2yr contract.

LG FUSIC SUCKS on September 10, 2006 8:32 PM
i thought this phone was bomb… for a minute…then i discovered how lame it really is. and by lame, i mean in the sense that it has a capability but that it grossly under-performs…much like the original meaning of the word “lame.” like, you’re lame when you break your foot, because you have a foot that could work, but it doesn’t work because it’s broken and therefore fairly useless for the time being until healed.in the case of the lame lg fusic, the “healing process” SHOULD be as simple as a firmware update, but we’ll see.the lameness…1. 1gb micro sd capacity, can’t use 2gb cards… LAME!2. media player equalizer has only presets, can’t configure frequency bands independently… LAME!3. fm transmitter only has an effective range of less than 1ft, from the phone to the radio/stereo antenna… LAME!4. i use an A2DP bluetooth stereo headset to listen to mp3s with… the bluetooth goes in and out of service and the phone is only about 3ft away in my pocket… LAME!and the WORST:5. when playing music, you can’t use ANY other phone functions… HELLA FUCKING LAME!these are potentially great features, but they are executed very poorly. hopefully sprint will issue a firmware update to address these terribly lame issues… and SOON. if so, this will be a great phone. but as it stands now, i’m very disappointed with my purchase.

Downloading music and files to the memory card in the phone can be done using the USB cable that the phone comes with. Connect the phone to the PC and let the Modem driver install if you’re prompted. Then go into the settings/tools on the phone and enable the USB drive option. You can then copy stuff directly. Also, if you have an SD slot on your PC, you can put the micro SD card into the supplied converter and read it like a regular SD card.To use the media player with the phone shut just hold down the play button for a moment to unlock the key lock. Then press and hold the button again to get the Music screen to come up. Then select the memory card and you can play your tracks. To use the transmitter, follow my instructions on playing a track with the media player above, or open the media player from the menu system. Then, play a track. Once the track is playing, flip open the phone if it’s closed. Choose “options” in the bottom right and then select “radio transmitter on”. The channels for the transmitter can be configured under tools or settings. To configure a playlist, you have to enter the Sprint media store and choose the playlist option. It will add folders to your micro SD card. You can then manage the playlist. I’ve been told that windows media player can manage the playlist once the folders are in place. If you have a mac and want to get your music on the phone. Ummm get a PC or something. =)

I just got this phone and was trying to figure out the fm transmitter deal, which I got my answer from static2600. Thanks man! So here is what I can give back:First things 1st. On this phone is internal memory and external memory(the mini sd card.) I got one with the phone that’s 64 megs, not alot of room for songs, but something to get you started. You have two ways to get music on this phone. One is with the usb cable that it came with or by using the adapter and plugging it into a digital media reader. This will go into how I made it work using the cable. Yea, I know it’s a loooong report. I only have XP, so with other OS’s your mileage may vary. When you plug in the usb cable from the phone to your computer, nothing will happen. On the phone go to menu/tools scroll down to the bottom and select usb flash drive, and select yes to connect. Then XP will see the phone. You should see a new drive letter. Double click the new drive, and you’ll see some folders. You’ll see a dcim folder and another folder under that named something like 100lgdcf. This is where your pictures are. You can back them up or add new pictures and create a slideshow on the phone. The pics you add should be 640×480 or even lower. Go back to the root folder where you see dcim, media and music. Your mp3 files need to be copied into the media folder. Once that is done back out of it, and go into menu/media player. Select #2 which is “media card”. You should see all your songs. Select a song and hit”ok”. It will play the next one in the list when it’s done. To play music with the cover closed, hit the “>||” button on the front and hold it down. Then it will say key gurad off. Hit the button again, now you see 2 icons, hit the right button to select memory card. Select your song and hit the middle button to play it. Use your volumn controls on the left side to crank it. Now you can open and close it, and it will keep on playing.

how do you download pictures from your computer into the phone
vthokie08 on October 16, 2006 3:44 AM
For all of you people wondering how to get the Micro SD card to read in your computer…..First of all, it is a MICRO card, and if you bought the phone then you did get an adapter to slide the micro card into the regular size SD card and some computers have the capability to read those. If not, then you’ll have to get a USB adapter (off of Ebay or some place like Ebay) so you can put the micro card into the adapter and then put the adapter with micro inserted into your USB port.
shooter on October 16, 2006 3:47 PM
The reviews of this phone are unfair. I bought it a few days ago against all the negative online press because I could return it in 30 days so I gave it a shot.1. You can easily change the screen saver so you don’t have to look at the ugly cartoons2. Many people bitching about usage really don’t know how to use technology, or they don’t read the manual. Yes some thing are not totally intuitive but once you figure them out it is no big deal.Items to try:1. Use the post above and keep the micro SD card in the phone and use the USB sync cable. you have to plug in the cable, let windows try and fail to install the CDMA modem, then go to into the tools menu on the phone and turn on the USB sync. Works like a champ2. DON’T use the sprint music store, use the memory card and song quality is great3. The FM transmitter ROCKS. People bitching don’t know how to use them. You have to pick around 10 FM frequencies on your radio that have TOTAL static and try each one. Depending on your local area depends on whether or not the phone won’t get any interferrence. I have it playing flawlessly at a range of up to 5 feet away from the radio. Set up 10 channels on the phone then set one active, turn on the media player, play a song then go options, and hit zero to turn on the FM transmitter

Anyone got the 2gb MicroSD card to work?
gautam on October 18, 2006 10:08 AM
Yeah, most of the people complaining have not spent more than 20 minutes with the phone. Nearly every aspect (except for a front-end status light) can be configured to your own tastes.Secondly, the design is very sleek and the phone is nice to hold. It weighs about the same as older phones with about 1/5th of the amount of features. But on one last note – WHAT about the 2GB microSD? Did anyone manage to make that functional?
Joe on October 19, 2006 1:43 PM
Short answer: no.I have gotten the 2gb microSD card to work for pictures only so far. The phone DOES recogonise the size of the card and allows me to take pictures/video and save them to the memory card. The phone does act a little “glitchy” though. Sometimes when I view my pictures, my phone will not recognise the format of the pictures until I reboot the phone. It also won’t let me download music off Sprint Music Store. Also, as soon as I try and connect the phone to my computer via the usb cable; the phone sometimes freezes or reboots. If I’m lucky… it will show up on my computer as a removable drive, but I can’t do anything with it.My last ditch effort before I ebay this memory card is to get a usb microSD card reader and completely bi-pass the phone. Hopefully this works. I’ll post my findings when I have them.

no you cant play music from ur comp as ur ringer, they are stored in the media folder not the music folder, and ive tried two computer neither of which read the card for this phone, and the usb feature recognizes the phone as an external modem, and its pissing me off cause i cant find the software, so basically the reason i bought this phone (to have music also) is totally useless right now
Tyler on October 20, 2006 4:55 AM
Any one get the bluetooth headset to play the music?
Joe on October 20, 2006 9:43 AM
“and the usb feature recognizes the phone as an external modem, and its pissing me off cause i cant find the software, so basically the reason i bought this phone (to have music also) is totally useless right now”Scott,When you plug the phone into your computer, ignore the pop up you get about the modem. On your phone: go to tools > USB Flash Drive > Yes. It will now work as USB mass storage device. Drag and drop your MP3s into the music or media folder on the phone, disconnect the phone, hit the play button on the phone and enjoy your music.
Anthony on October 21, 2006 10:49 AM
This Phone is excellent if you know what the features are and how to use them. Ive never had any problem putting music on the phone and you can connect right through the phone. AS for the modem has any one gotten that to work id like to use that feature

Joe on October 24, 2006 12:20 PM
OK here’s the skinny on the 2gb memory card: Does it work on the fusic? Short answer: yesno… that’s right, I said yesno. It works… but not really. The best I could do is have it read as a 1gb memory card. As long as I kept the data in the card under 1gb, it worked fine. Isn’t that just wonderful?… =p So… the only reason you would use a 2gb memory card for this phone is if you are like me and bought one before you did your research and now have what appears to be a useless memory card. If that fits your case, do the following to make it work on your phone so you don’t have to buy a 1gb memory card:1.) Buy a TransFlash card reader that you can plug into your USB plug in your computer. These are cheap. Make sure you buy one that can support up to 2gb cards. Also make sure that you have the TransFlash/MicroSD adapter for your MicroSD memory card. You need this because your phone can’t handle the 2gb memory card and has no idea what to do with it. I was also not able to get it to work with a microSD card reader.2.) format the card in your phone (menu > tools > memory card > options > format memory card)3.) turn on your camera in your memory card. You will get a notice that your phone is creating two files on your memory card. Select OK. Turn off camera mode.4.) Start your music player by pressing and holding the play button on the front of the phone and select the music (not media). Your phone will tell you that you have no music, but it will create a file on your memory card that you will need.5.) Take out the memory card and put it into your TransFlash adapter which is pluged into your TransFlash card reader, which is pluged into your usb port on your computer…. yeah.6.) The card should pop up instantly as a USB mass storage device on your PC (havn’t tried this on a mac)7.) Put up to 999MB of songs in your MUSIC file on the memory card. NOT the media file. If you put it in the media file you will only be able to listen to one song at a time and won’t be able to make play lists.8.) The phone should now work with your 1gb of songs. So that’s all I got… I bet there is a way to make the 2gb card work as a 2gb card… but I give up =p To be honest… I don’t think a 2gb card would even be that good. If you put a gig worth of songs on your phone, it takes the phone about a minute to load all the songs every time you hit the play button. That’s no fun. That means 2gbs would take 2 minutes to load all the songs… that’s twice as less fun. I don’t want to sit there in silence for 2 minutes while my phone loads music. Not fun indeed.Anyway… hope this answers some questions some of you might have. Peace.

bobiton_woosel on October 30, 2006 3:26 PM
Whenever I take a pic with the camera, even though the initial preview comes out OK, after it saves it to the memory card, it immediately squashes it to a smaller size, making all my pics looks distorted. Anyone else have the same problem.

Screw the Fusic, I bought one and a buddy of mine did as well, we wanted to use it as an mp3 player so we bought the ridiculously priced 2gb micro sd cards, they dont work!! BEWARE all you thinking of buynig a fusic. the fm transmitter is decent at best, you CANNOT use your mp3′s as ringtones, you can make your own ringtones and upload them yourself but it takes some research, and the quality isnt great. it does seem to be glitchy, and sucks for what is makes itself out to be. uf anyone sees a firmware update for the fusic, to enable the 2gb that would be great, also if the preformatting the sd card into 2 1 gb cards works please post. My thought was that the media player was the thing preventing all the music to play, so someone smarter than I should make a media player that allows all the music to play. lg friggin sucks if they purposely put a limit on space

To whoever (Joel) has written “reviews” about the Fusic and gets long winded with their hate of the device need to build a time machine and go move your B.S. blog back to when cell phones were the size of the tumor in your head.To Moron “Blogger”: Writing about crap-tastic screen savers and menus tells me that you spent less time looking at it than you do taking a shit.re: >> 20 steps on getting it to play music >>WITHOUT opening the phone:1) Hold down the Play/Pause button to get keyguard off.2) Hold down the Play/Pause button to bring up a selection on whether you want to peruse Sprint Music or MicroSD music3) Click the Play/Pause button to Select One3) THATS IT GOBSTOPPER – It starts playing the F!@#ING music automaticallyOh and having to keep your stupid ass Podcast on pause indefinitely while the battery wears down: USE SEEK FORWARDGOOD LORD, ever use an MP3 device before???The Fusic is great, and it’s not a 2 year olds toy if you take 2 minutes to go through the options and get it to do exactly what you want.SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS, GO BACK TO LALALAND, STOP FILLING UP THE INTERNET WITH YOUR DRIBBLE

ok so I’ve read most of the comments and I still don’t know how to get my music from my computer onto my phone… I put the chip into the adapter and then into my computer. It opened up a folder and then I tried to drag songs from my music folder to the media folder and it just won’t work!! It keeps saying that the disk is right-protected and that I need to remove the right protection or use another disk… has anyone had this happen?Oh and btw, I’ve tried using the USB cord too and it does the same thing.. HELPcallmeursuzyq@yahoo.com OR sesheridan@liberty.eduThanks

I read the comments about how to transfer music from computer to phone and tried them. I hook up my USB cord, sync my music using windows media player, then move the files into the media folder. They show up when I go to tools, then memory card, but not in the media folder from the external navigation pane. When I got to the media folder that way it says no content. So, I have to keep the phone open to listen to music. I read that some other people were having the same problem….any luck with it? Any suggestions from anyone?????

I have the music files on the memory card. I go to tools then to memory card and then I select the song, but it beeps and says invalid file. When I put the card into my computer it shows the songs and plays them. The title of the song shows up on the phone but will not play. They are all songs I purchased from itunes. Can anyone help??

Just got my LX550 about 2 weeks ago, picked up a couple MicroSD cards. I love the MicroSD expandability, MP3 player, camcorder and 1.3MP camera (though I was hoping for something a little higher in quality, but what do you expect). I also love the FM transmitter (works great as long as you put it on a higher frequency for a stronger signal and figure out how to ground it decently). Two days ago I picked up a Motorola combo with the HT820 BT headset and DC800 Stereo BT gateway. The HT820 works like a dream. However I’m having a problem using the DC800 gateway with the Fusic. It’ll pair fine. It’ll connect. However, when I transmit music to it, after 20 seconds my phone will freeze and occassionally state “unknown sig raised” and I’ll have to pull the battery. Has anyone heard of this? Does anyone know if the V09 to V12 firmware upgrade will fix this? The HT820 however works perfectly, beyond expectations however using the A2DP 1.2 protocol. I just can’t understand why the gateway using the same A2DP 1.2 protocol would be any different besides the fact that the LX550 is using A2DP 1.1 (though 1.2 should be backwards compatible, you’d think) Anyway, I must go, any help would be much obliged.

wow…peoples’ inability to follow the amazingly (at times) well put directions on here is astounding.to get the transmitter to work you must:1. go into tools2. go to music transmitter3. select a channel (Ch 1, for example)4. Select Channel Edit at the bottom right of the screen5. Enter in a frequency that is ONLY STATIC when you turn it on in your car/at your house6. Select “Freq Save” at bottom left of screen7. While same channel you just editted is still highlighted on main music transmitter screen, click “Channel Save” on bottom left of screen.8. go to music player, select memory card or in-phone media9. Select a song10. Go to options11. Select transmitter12. Select “Yes” to turn transmitter on13. Turn on your car radio and tune to station you have stored in music transmitter.PRESTO! music from your phone magically plays over your car’s stereo. To load music:1. Put Micro SD card into slot on left side of phone2. Select menu, then tools3. scroll to bottom of list and select “USB FLASH DRIVE” and click “YES” when promtped.4. Connect USB cord to phone and computer5. Just hit cancel when it asks you to install the device as a modem6. Go to my computer7. See “G” drive and open it by double clicking the icon8. Open Media folder9. Search your computer for music files via the search option.10. When you find a song you want on your phone, drag the file by clicking and holding the mouse while you slide the icon you have selected over to the MEDIA FILE FOLDER window you still have open.11. Fill up you music folder then..***NOTE: FOLLOW ON PHONE INSTRUCTIONS AND DO NOT JUST RIP THE CORD OUT WHEN YOU WANT TO!! You must EJECT the device from the computer (little green arrow on bottom right of your computer’s task bar). Click this, then select the device and click “stop”****Now, it is my understanding that it is impossible, but if anyone figures out how to convert mp3s on the mem card to ringers, let me know. any other way to load ringers is welcome also. There must be a trick to get around this. email me. famouslastwords@gmail.com

NaeBae on November 27, 2006 6:26 PM
In order to listen to music that you download from you computer w/your phone shut, you have to download it into your “media” folder vs. your “music” folder. Then you have to listen to it from you “Media Player”, but at least you can shut the phone instead of keeping it open (like from the tools/memory card option.)Still confused as to how to get the transmitter to work on this option though.

Is the 2 GB memory card not compatible?I have followed all the advice of this collumn in viewing the Memory card through the USB port. I have no joy with a USB connection to my 2 GB card.Yes I know that I can view the content of the memory card through the adaptor. Everything else appears to be working fine. I have 1.3GB of music loaded just fine. When I attach the usb directly to the computer and select the usb card, nothing shows up right away. After 5-10 minutes a drive appears; but no content appears. Apparently locking up / slowing down the computer.I suspect my 64mb card will work fine. I will verify my assumption using the 64 mb card tomarrow.Has anyone else gotten a 2GB card to connect through the USB?

Tiburon Bill on November 29, 2006 11:52 PM
I don’t think the Fusic likes the 2 gb memory card. I can only get it to hold 1 gb of data. When I format it, it says it has 2 gb of capacity, but it shows that 960,000 is used and 965,000 is free with no data on the drive. Also the Fusic connects fine with my USB cable to my computer when I have the little 64 mb micro-sd inside the phone. But when I put the 2 gb micro-sd in, it won’t recognize the “g” drive on my computer. I think the 2 gb drives are so new that LG hasn’t set the phone up to accept them. Any other thoughts?

ok very simple but took me a while to figure out.1.plug the phone to the computer using the usb cord provided with your phone.2. once the phone is connected to the computer get on your phone and go to tools then go all the way down to usb flash drive then it shoul connect3. search for your phone on your computer (usally u would go to mycomputer and a removable disk drive should be in their)4.find the folder your music is in the just simpily drag and drop the music into the media folder because using the music folder complicate things because u have to make a playlist then u cant close your phone while listening to music but if u put it in media you wont have to go through the hassels any questions email me at dizimekeya@yahoo.com i will help as much as i can.

hi guys, I just bought my phone online last weekend. I had to check on the music, so connected it to my pc, could load like 5 songs with the md card you get with the phone( LG does a lot of false advertising saying tons of songs) And I noticed that I could play the mp3 with the flip open by going to media player from the memory card. But it wouldnt play when closed when I tried to use the ext. controls. The external control would light up but nothing showed up. So there was no point of me buying the phone if the I cannt control the music thru the ext. buttons. So I looked online, came across your forum for troubleshooting. Man I thought who are these guys who have so much time to talk about a cellphone, but it was helpful.. Reading thru all your notes, I could see many seem to have the same problem with ext controls. thought may be I return favour by leaving a note.So I took the phone back to the sprint store, and the guys there didnt know about how to start ext. controls. Then I used the model phone at the store to show them, press the outside play button and hold to choose memory card or store. Then they exchanged mine, gave me a new one that works. Also the new phone, I noticed seem to have lot more features, esp in memory card folders. The store guys were helpful. So I think some of you may have a real problem so try exchanging or wait for sony ericsson w950. thank you.

MIKE – You are the man. Nice post.As far as the pic goes – I emailed you about it.Just send it to your phone as an email. Or you can use one of the file uploaders previously mentioned here. They should work. You just have to be sure it will make it size wise. I think the manual includes info about that. It has to be formated properly.

as for the questions about not finding a “g” drive – it MAY be named something else (A through Z) on your comp. Just find the right one (the one that is NOT there when your phone isn’t plugged in). Good luck.

i found the best way to upload music onto the phone is to put the memory card into SD drive and then convert all music into windows media player onto a sync list and then sync it into device. then you have to drag all the synced music into media file in G drive and it will work just fine. it took me a while to figure it out but if you have some time it’ll come to ya.

How do you create playlists from the songs on your memory card?
Chaz on January 4, 2007 1:56 PM
Word is that upgrading the fusic firmware v09 to v12 will allow the phone to recognize a 2gig card. Is his true? I have also heard somewhere that the v12 upgrade will make the phone only play mp3′s that have been downloaded from Sprint. I think is false but can anyone that has upgraded confirm or deny that rumor?
Angie Fisher on January 5, 2007 8:32 PM
Just some complaints: My first Fusic was defective, couldn’t recognize nor use the card usually, therefore wouldn’t work as MP3. I had 100+ pics on it, stored in the phone since the card wouldn’t work. The internal software was malfunctioning and very irregular as to allowing me to remove the pics via pictbridge. It would only stay connected up to 20 seconds, usually way less. The usb xfer method didn’t work at all because the card wasn’t recognized by the phone (card worked in my computer). The store said they “weren’t allowed” to use their desktop to get my pics off, but if I wanted to leave the phone, he may be able to use their laptop eventually to try to get them off. I took my phone home and it took my husband and I 4+ hrs to get all but 17 pics off. The rest just would not come off. The store ordered a replacement phone (which took a wk to come in, then one of their employees later told me they gave me a refurbished phone). Phone #2 worked as MP3 but wouldn’t work as a phone. They tried to fix it 4 times, then replaced it again. I took the free 30 day fancy package thingy to get the pics uploaded to the Sprint online site to get them off phone #2, haven’t tried to download them yet. They lost the card I took in w/ the phone and once my husband made the last trip to get the phone #3 from this Sprint dealer store to save my blood pressure, they neglected to move my phone book over. Each time I get a Fusic, I’m told not to use the phone for 2 hours and not to use any other features except MP3 for 4 hours to assure their network has time to update the phone. I’m still waiting to use #3 for anything other than MP3. If it doesn’t work, they’ll be paying for my therapy bills.

Has anyone figured out how to do these:1. Make the mp3s in a folder play by track number instead of by alphabetical order without needlessly renaming every file or creating a playlist for every album.2. Get rid of that background noise that’s very audible during the quiet passages of the music.3. Get rid of that even louder noise whenever a track advances to the next song.It has v12 and a 2GB Sandisk card installed. Can you guys verify if your phones have these issues? I may have a malfunctioning unit. Thanks.

I have totally taken my fusic to the next level, i can play great sounding music as my ringtones, i can watch full episodes and movies when converted and even watch them on the outside of my phone, which is great, all stereo sound videos, it is great, there are still so many things this phone can do and i want everyone to know it’s potential, if i can sit and watch Aqua teen hunger force while my fusic is closed and have it be in full screen, thats perfect for me, and it has all been free, o and 1 more thing, i hate the zillion fusic forums that never tell you anything directly about the 2gb memory card, 2 1 gigs is fine with me, but now that i know that the 2 gb works, i’m set

So i have had my LG Fusic since Christmas and I LUV IT!!!! i havent had any kind of problems. Today was the first day i attempted to put music on it and I was luckily successful after reading the many post on here. I only have one problem i cant create a folder so that i can listen to music with the phone shut. I read the manuel and even went to sprint.com the problem with their directions is it only explains how to create a folder with music downloaded from the store. If anyone can help me understand how to transfer music off of my memory card and into a folder on my phone i would greatly appreciate it thanks for reading!!!!

Selected TOOLS, Went to USB and clicked YES. Then I selected Cancel when the pop up came up. Clicked on my Computer But all I see is are A, E, C, D DRIVES. I don’t see a “G” drive. I’ve read that IT MIGHT be in my E drive…But when I clicked on my “E” Drive there’s nothing there at all. No Media folders or anything. Hms…Am I doing something wrong? Or is my Windows not compatiable? I have windows XP…if anyone can please help… It’s soooo frustrating with this thing!!!!

HOW TO PUT iTUNES ON FUSIC:Ok putting iTunes on your Fusic is super easy. All you need to do is either plug your memory card into your computer, or connect your USB cord to your phone. Then go to My Computer, click on whichever removable disk brings you to your phone’s stuff. You will see folders that are named: DCIM, MEDIA, and MUSIC. Open the MEDIA file. If your iTunes are not already open, open them. Then all you have to do highlight what song you want, and then drag the song into the folder, wait for it to convert, and then presto, you have music!
Melissa on February 3, 2007 2:40 PM
Okay,I’ve tried that. But the only problem is trying to locate the drive on my computer. when I click on MY COMPUTER all i don’t see “G” “F” or REMOVABLE DISK drive. All I see are just “A” “E” “C” “D” drives. How do I find it?

DON’T BUY A 2GB micro SD for your Fusic!!! Better yet, don’t buy a Fusic. Made this mistake the hard way.I am going to attempt the method from the “Joe October 24″ post to make my 2GB card usable. The Sprint Tech Support was useless except for the 20min of elevator music I got to listen to first. Also, I specifically asked the guy at the Sprint store if the music transmitter worked. He replied that he hadn’t heard of any problems with it. WRONG. It works like a 1980 walkman that has been dropped in a lake. You can’t hear thru the static. This varies depending on the car/stereo but that is not an investment I am planning on making.I think anyone that has put positive posts on this site must work for Sprint.Lesson Learned: Research phones online at sites like this, not at the Sprint store.

Hi AllI got the Fusic couple of days ago, took the time to read the instructions and look at this forum and it works great.FTFI will help you a lot (Read The F*&king Instructions)For those having trouble with the USB cable, you MUST1. plug the cable phone and computer.2. When the modem message comes up, cancel it.3. Go to “Tools” go to “Mass Storage” (which is #0) and answer the question “Yes” or push #1 on keypad.4. As soon as you do this your computer will recognize the phone as a jump drive or whatever with a new drive letter. and5. It will see all of your files.Just to let you know.1. I can transfer mp3 and video files (3gp and 3p2) to my phone and see them and play them no problem about 1 meg per minute of video.2. The FM transmitter works great.Ed B

To all having problems with the FM transmitter feature here is what I found;1. Make sure that the FM freq that you pick as alot of static on your radio indicating a good freq to use.2. If you hear the music but it goes in and out and has crappy range ( like you have to put the fusic right next to the antenna) make sure you plug the fusic in. I use a car charger cable and hook it up while in the car, it made all the difference. I trippled the distance and had no more drop outs or fuzzies while playing mp3s.PS to the people using blue tooth functions may find that it also works better while the phone is powered up using charging cable. it seems that this beast has a big powersaving feature on the transmitters on the phone and they probably do so to favor saving power for phone calls to keep the call time/standby time up so LG can brag abouot it….Mark

Rick on April 16, 2007 1:11 PM
This is a really great phone, for what its worth. Yes, it has limited features, like when transmitting to the car stereo and receiving a call, you have to end your song. For me, I have songs(tracks) that are 1+ hour long. So I always have to reset to the beginning of the song. Having a feature to “resume from last stopping point” or “scanning” to find that point in the song you wanted to start from, would be golden. For the pics, yes, they have to be small in size or it overloads the phone and it shuts down completely (as if your PC froze). As for the 2 gig card, I do not know what’s talked about there. Mine works fine. It might be the manufacture of the card itself not recognizing the phone… I dunno, I am not computer guy, just a live and learner type of person. Trial and error, I have found some cards do not work, no matter how big they are, try another manufacture. As for the distance for transmitting, that all depends on the “juice” you have left in the phone, the more power, the stronger the signal. Also, picking the correct station helps; I have found choosing stations that have just fuzz are the best, cause its not competing with that radio tower. Also, if the phone is plugged into a charger, it has the fullest of power its going to have, that’s when you transmit. Transmitting from hand and stock battery will not do justice, you will have to have it within a foot. However, I got this long ars cord, so I plugged it in, and stood like five feet from my car and it played fine. With my above settings. Heck, I walk through house parties overriding that lame music they have playing with what’s in my phone, and most people get confused, its great! If you like messing with peoples audio.
As for the MP3′s that have been converted, I have no clue, I ran into that with my friends gig, he had some and they did not work. However, any song that’s downloaded (that you already own) from a site online, it will work. To play back the stock songs you get from Sprint, you have to update your players, think its QuickTime that plays the different music/video file types that come from Sprint. When in the phone, they are not MP3′s. rather .p something…. dunno, not looking at it right now… either way, this is an idea under-construction. People are getting paid to read these kinds of message boards and will see the feedback, to help improve on the next model. I hope…
Punch list to make this phone better…1: Allow within track search for point in song one wants to hear.2: Allow rack to play from stopped point when receiving a call.3: Boost the FM Transmitting power, not all radios have great antennas.4: Take Rick for a nice long walk in the park, some adult beverages and good times… (yes, that would make the phone a lot better.5. Allow all SD cards to read.6. Allow for larger pictures and video files or make it so the phone does not crash (turn off)…rest is up to you all

WOW, I’ve had my Fusic for less then 24 hours and LOVE IT. Many negative comments on here are pure user error. The phone performs exactly as advertised. I have transfered music (only MP3s) directlly to the Sd card via the USB cable that came with the phone. I’ve also loaded MP3 via bluetooth. The FM transmitter worked fine in my Toyota FJ Cruiser. It may be reciever related issue for some of you. Also plug the Fusic into your Cig Lighter while using the FM Transmitter. I own Logitech Bluetooth stereo headphones and they work great with the Fusic. They paired esily and all the functions work great, volume, pause, forward and back.It seems alot of you cant seem to see the phone as a Drive Letter on your Pcs to transfer music. You need to turn that function on in the phone.1) Plug the USB cable into the phone and your PC2) ignore anything that may pop up on your PC screen3) on the PHONE, click Menu4) goto TOOLS5) scroll down and chose “USB Flash Drive”6) choose YES7) the phone will indicate “USB is now connected. Do not……………8) Check the available drives on your PC, there will beRemovable Disc (E:) listed. Thats your Phone! The E can be any available drive letter not nessissarily E. Most likely it will be E: or F:When your done just unplug the Cable from the phone. That will bring up a message “Exiting USB flash drive” and the phone will return to normal. You will need to repete all of the steps above every time you want to transfer via USBGOOD LUCK!

It seems that a lot of people here (including me) are experiencing the same problem – that MP3′s will not play through their Bluetooth headsets. It also seems that nobody here either:1) wants to answer that question, or2) can answer that question.Well, for what it’s worth, I called Sprint about this problem, and was told that I had to have a Bluetooth headset that “supports MP3 playback”, and that there are a lot of them on the market that don’t. Silly me….I thought a Bluetooth headset was a Bluetooth headset. Apparently, if your headset is “non-MP3 supportive”, you will be able to hear calls, but your MP3′s will not play through it.What a pain!
Ashley on May 12, 2007 4:53 AM
Everytime I start to sync to my phone, it starts the first song on my list, then stops, and restarts my phone. This is getting rediculous. If I use the card reader in the comp and try to drag songs, it says the songs are protected or something…ugh!!
Ashley on May 12, 2007 1:24 PM
OH, my goodness!! Ok…I don’t know why it doesn’t like the USB phone connection thing. I was reading another site that was referring to the card reader thing. It mentioned that there’s a little switch that says ‘lock’ on it…I moved that, and voila!! Stupid people at Bell thought that it was defective, as it wasn’t locking my little memory card in place so it doesn’t fall out. Idiots
DDinTV on May 12, 2007 7:54 PM
I did some more research on the Bluetooth/MP3 issue, and I found that the only Bluetooth gear that supports music filed are the full-blown stereo headsets, and the cheapest one of those I could find was $100Bottom line – not worth it. I didn’t pay that much for the phone, and I can put up with a wire when listening to MP3′s. Even though the Bluetooth earpiece I bought doesn’t do MP3′s, I’m going to keep for ease of use. After all, it only cost me $10 after rebate from Comp USA.Here is another question I have, however, and believe me….I’ve scoured the manual for the answer to this one. Does the LX550 have an FM tuner (receiver) along with the transmitter, so that I can listen to FM radio stations on the phone? Several ads I have found for the LX550 advertise this feature, but I have yet to locate it on the phone. Anyone else have better luck?

I bought this phone about a month ago. I added a 1Gb card, car charger and a Motorola bluetooth earpiece. All I can say is Wow– great phone.Voice clarity, both via bluetooth and the handset is miles beyond the four-year-old Samsung N400 this replaced.Voice dialing has been glitch-free, unlike my old Samsung, which required significant training to get it to work.I’ve gotten it to play mp3, wma, m4a, ogg, and several video formats without problem. I travel quite a bit, and have loaded the card with 7-8 cds worth of music, playing it in rental cars via the FM transmitter. Here’s a tip, find an empty frequency higher in the band (i.e., above 105 fm). The player doesn’t read id tags in the files, but supports subfolders in the media folder, which helps to keep music organized.I haven’t formally tested data speeds, but when I downloaded my ringers and caller ID pictures from my own server via the internet, it seemed much, much faster than with my old phone.Picture quality is acceptable. Video quality is marginal with significant blocking, but works. The dpad and the left soft key are quickly customizable for shortcuts to often-used functions. My earpiece paired quickly without problem. I’ve used it without interference 15 feet away from the phone. Voice dialing via the earpiece was close to flawless with the earpiece, the only issue was the phone having an occasional problem recognizing the confirming ‘yes.’I find it odd that the phone has two media players, but I understand why this is (Sprint wants there own player for there music store so they can get a piece of the music download pie). I haven’t used the Sprint music store or its player– I have over 600 albums on my media server at home, so I have no need to.

can’t figure out how to get my music that i have on my pc onto a playlist or my music on this fusic phone i got the music downloaded on the little memory card but it only plays one song at a time and you have to have the phone open is there anyway i can get this phone to play my already downloaded music without having to buy the songs from sprint?help somebody
Bob on June 12, 2007 11:04 AM
First, RTFM.Second, you don’t have to have the phone open. You can open and close the phone while music is playing.Third, it plays all of the music in a folder, not one song at a time.1. With the phone closed, press and hold the >|| button until it says Key Guard Off.2. Release the button.3. Press and hold the >|| button again until it says Music.4. Release the button.5. Press the >>| button to highlight Memory Card.6. Press the >|| button to select the Memory Card. That’s it.

^ put it in the MEDIA folder in mp3 format. I also have a full cd on my card in .m4a format so i guess either works.

roaches on June 23, 2007 3:13 PM
ok B sea how did you get it in the media folder, i’ve put my card in the adapter then into the usb, and im doing it through windows, when i try to use the usb cable, it makes like a double ding sound, and nothing happens, or does anyone have a clue on how to cut the file down to size, like smaller than a root file or whatever, call me and idiot call me illiterate, doesn’t make a difference at this point, obviously no one really cares. i should just go buy a new phone.
Bob on June 25, 2007 9:24 AM
@roachesI don’t think anyone needs to “call you and idiot,” your spelling and writing skills do that for you. I could probably safely add reading skills as well, as this is clearly spelled out in the manual, which is where I learned how to do this. The double ding sound means that windows has recognized the card. Open Windows Explorer, expand (click on the little plus-sign-in-a-box) My Computer and you’ll see a drive called “MMC – SD,” followed by a drive letter. This is your card. Expand it and you should see three folders: DCIM (this is where pictures go); MEDIA (this is where you’ll drop mp3s); and MUSIC (this is for the Sprint Music Store).Drop your music into the MEDIA folder.

ashley on July 8, 2007 1:40 PM

Bob on July 8, 2007 4:51 PM
Get a 1 or 2 gig card. I got a 1 gig @ Tiger Direct for $15. It’ll hold over a dozen albums and leaves me plenty of room for taking photos and videos.

I have a G4 Mac. The Fusic (which I just purchased yesterday) wouldn’t show up on the desktop via usb cable. (the system profiler ‘saw’ it, but would not mount it) I followed a suggestion from another forum to buy a card reader (I bought the ImageMate 5 in 1 SanDisk card reader) and voila- the card showed up as a drive on the desktop. I had already made a music folder within the media folder on the Fusic (Tools-memory card) and I just loaded a bunch of music on it and they play through the phone; hopefully, I’ll get them to work via the FM transmitter.

Holy crap some of you people amaze me.With the intelligence level of some, how is it that they can get a job to afford this phone? Sad.I, for one, love my phone.I ..upgraded, I guess you could say, from the RAZR, which I was infatuated with. It didn’t play MP3′s or tv/video, but you sure could make your own ring tone a hell of a lot easier. Motorolla Tools = Fantastic.I just wish I could find a program similar to that so that I don’t have to pay the steep fee for a 20 second ringer.I’m with Bell Mobility, so half of all your questions/answers/bs just goes over my head. Irrelevent to me.I’ve had no problems with my Fusic so far. I’ve only had it 4 days, so theres room for error still.I can play my music with the phone both open AND closed, no issues there.I can listen to all my files with my bluetooth headset.I, however, don’t have a “humming” mode?I just bought this phone, so it should be new and complete with any enhancements.. so maybe I’m missing something.=]

donnie on August 7, 2007 11:17 AM
omg ya guys read the manual u can use ya mp3′s to make ringtones i did it its alittle weird but pretty simple goto the composer strike one key on there save the melody to the name of the song your using as a ringer remember use only 30 seconds of the mp3 anymore isnt worth it so use somethin to cut the mp3 like soundforge to exactly 30 seconds then google a program called bitpim it wont recognize ya lg but it recognizes the port on ya phone when ya cable is pluged into the phone via ya computer then in bitpim u find the melody composer folder should show up two files one a pmc file other a midi file u right click midi file and rewrite the file by right clickin and replacing it with your mp3 then u will see a status bar with blue lines going across means its uploadin too the phone really simple guys

Bob on August 20, 2007 9:52 AM
bgrand–Zoom only works with the two lower resolution settings; it won’t work with the highest resolution. To change resolution–1. Start the camera.2. Select Options.3. Select 5 Settings.4. Change the resolution to VGA or QVGA.You can now zoom with the volume rocker on the side of the phone.

Hi, I’ve read all your comments, and I still can’t get music onto my phone. I live in Canada and have Bell. I plug it into the computer, then press USB storage, and it says its connected, but it doesn’t show a new drive in My Computer. When I go to tools > memory card, it says “Memory Card Error, please reset the phone”. Does this mean my phone is defective and won’t recognize the card? or do I have to reset the phone to factory defaults and lose all of my contacts and photos? Also, does anyone know how to get photos from the inphone memory to my computer? I have about a 100 i think. How would I transfer it? I’ve tried to connect my phone and computer by bluetooth and they won’t recognize each other. I’m really frustrated. other than this the phone works great. I tried using the memory card in the adaptor in my camera, and it wont recgnize either, even though it works for my normal SD. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Ive had the phone about a month and I’d like to listen to music on it, I don’t have an MP3 player. you can email me at sara_marsh@msn.com. please put in the re: field that its about the Fusic. Thanks!

I used the USB flash drive before on my mac and it worked fine. After a couple months when I tried again it wouldn’t mount anymore. Has anyone else gotten it to work and in the past. Maybe an update to OSX stopped it from working?

I’ve had my LX550 for 6 months now, and it’s a nice little phone. I use the MP3 player frequently (I love the drop-and-drag ease of transferring files), mostly to listen to talk programs and podcasts. The FM transmitter, though, leaves a bit to be desired. I had hoped it would pack a bit more power, like my LineX FM transmitter. I live in an urban area, so it’s not easy to find a completely vacant frequency. I prefer to use a cassette adapter in my car. Otherwise, it’s a great phone.

I’m having trouble with my daughter’s phone, for some reason it began to blink on and off and I cant get it to stop.Does anybody know what is wrong with it?
Andrew on December 22, 2007 9:35 AM
the blinking is the service light, it just shows if you have a missed call/voicemail/message. to turn it off you goto settings-display-status light. then you can turn it off. its a great thing to have it you use it, but its completwly ok. hope i answered ur question ray

i recently download songs onto the memory card which was successful. I inputted the memory card into the LG Fusic phone & went into the Menu ‘Music’, while the phone was updating the new music i had just download onto the memory card, i accidently interupted the process. Now every time when i go to Menu & push ‘Music’ it FREEZES on the loading of ” Java Powered ” page. To get out of that page, I would need to turn off phone then turn it back on.Please email me if you know how to fix this problem as I cannot listen to music or get into my music program anymore cause it just keeps freezing on that Java Powered page.
