There’s no evidence of it now, but a press release about the IFA 2006 (a huge consumer electronics show in Berlin) on Samsung’s German site used to include pictures and information about the company’s new YP-K5 digital audio player. Our friends at Akihabara News got a hold of a few pictures before they were pulled from the site, and we snagged the cached press info and ran it through Babel Fish for more details.
The YP-K5 measures 3.85 x 1.87 x 0.74 inches; comes in 1, 2, and 4GB varieties; supports MP3, Ogg, ASF, and WMA files; and utilizes Samsung’s 3D Sound System DNSE (Digital Natural Sound Engine). The more interesting features are what seem to be a large touch screen and some kind of integrated speaker the size of the device itself.
Akihabara News is reporting that the player has just been released in Korea, but with no mention of it on Samsung’s Korean site and the other info coming from Germany, we don’t know what to think. Regardless, it looks pretty cool.
