Meizu M8 / miniOne Pricing

meizu minione Meizu M8 / miniOne Pricing

We’re not sure when a CEO heading to a forum to make an official announcement became standard practice, but apparently Meizu CEO J. Wong does it all the time. On what was presumably his most recent visit, Mr. Wong posted pricing information on the suprisingly very real and upcoming M8 (also known as the miniOne).

The 4GB and 8GB iPhone-looking players/phones will be available with and without the 3-megapixel camera for the following prices: $195 (4GB without camera), $310 (4GB with camera), $285 (8GB without camera), and $400 (8GB with camera). We’re still a bit hesitant to completely get rid of the “rumor” label this thing has been wearing since the summer, but the info is coming from the CEO. And we hobnob with B. Gates and S. Jobs in forums often enough to be able to spot the unequivocal truth when we see it.

i wanna buy that.

skippyg on March 2, 2007 11:34 PM

to me it seems much more appealing, 3mp cam and the fact that its a CRAP LOAD cheaper.

Utew on March 3, 2007 2:17 AM

Knock-off or not, Meizu is one hot little Chinese company, that could have a big impact in the areas it is focused on. I’d sure like to see this become widely available in the US….

Looks brilliant, hope it comes to the UK.

kadajawi on March 3, 2007 9:02 AM

Don’t like the design too much, but… what a price. The 4 or 8 GB version without camera please (unless the camera is really good, but I doubt that. Though the price difference… $115 is quite a difference, you can get an okish camera for that). And since it’s coming from Meizu the quality will be good aswell.Anyway, actually the CEO of Nubert (German speaker manufacturer, great products and company btw.) uses their own forum quite a bit, also announcing new products etc. (though not that officially).

That price takes the piss out of the iPod. Now THAT is a phone that I’m willing to pay some money for, and its a very fair price too, unlike 600 bucks on a plan? Pft. I’m not stupid, I know a scam when I see one.Very nice. This might replace my current phone :)

Wow! Hurry up and ship this to the US, Meizu!

It looks like this phone has a removable battery, certainly a plus. However, I wonder how the UI is, considering it’s just a touchscreen and not multi-touch like the iPhone. However, if the M8/miniOne is realized on a wider variety of networks unlike the Cingular-only iPhone, it will be a huge hit. Apple will most likely sue for copyright infringement because it IS a blatant copy of the iPhone’s design and UI, but I think Meizu would win because the design itself, though sleek, is too generic (at least I think so) to copyright fully.

August Smith on March 24, 2007 11:44 PM

Post Scriptum – Samsung could also claim that the Meizu M8/miniOne is a copy of their new Ultra Smart F700 Phone, though without the keyboard. For comparison, see the following:.

I love this phone. All the reviews show it to be superior but someone needs to provide feedback to Meizu for US release it needs 802.11 for our networks.

These chinese companies man… they aren’t too creative but they sure are very adept at ripping off others design and hard work. When was the last time a chinese company actually design a fresh product? I cant remember. But I sure can remember the whole lot that they immitate. This is getting sick.
