iriver Spinn and Lplayer US Release Dates

lplayer spinn iriver Spinn and Lplayer US Release Dates

iriver is continuing to spit out the players shown at CES and now it’s time for the Spinn and the Lplayer. Considered to be an upgrade from the Clix 2 the Spinn will continue the AMOLED based players and upgrade the screen size and resolution among with other upgrades. The Lplayer can best be described as a bigger version of the S10 with the framed screen covering the entire player and navigation is handled by the D-click system.

The Spinn screen is now 3.2″ and has a resolution of 480×272 which means it will be very sharp and have better colors than any LCD based player due to the AMOLED screen. It will also have Bluetooth and support Adobe Flash and European customers can expect a DAB radio in there too. Battery life is average at 25/5 hours for audio/video respectively and the player will be available in 4, 8 and 16GB when it comes out in August.

The Lplayer is tiny, small and basically not very big. Imagine a cell phone screen in a plastic frame and that’s the Lplayer. The screen resolution is 320×240 which means it can still do pretty decent video and there’s also a radio in there. Like the Spinn it does 25 hours of audio while video playback is slightly lower at 4 hours. The Lplayer will launch in June according to iriver and will be available in 2, 4 and 8GB.

With the DAB, its a D2 competitior, but no SD, and a not as good battery life.If the D3 comes out with WLAN, they should have crammed more features into this new player, otherwise they cant compete, its like a D2 with less features, when there is a D3, not a good idea on their behalf.Doesnt look like it will scratch as easy as the Clix2 though, nice move.I would be interested in trying the Clix2 sometime though.

As 2 fellow posters said “Nice” and “Sweet”. I really want to see the Spinn!!!

I like the sound of the Spinn’s features! The Lplayer sounds like a nice alternative too, they need to just price these right(within the 200 and below market) and they’ll sell pretty well. I’ve already seen a lot of interest in the Lplayer based on the release photo of the speaker-dock. 3.2 inches sounds great to me.

So does the spin have a touch screen and the spinning thing? A dual interface would be really cool.

Does the Spinn have touch screen?Ohh and neither of these players have a chance IMO if Samsung comes out with the Samsung P3 with haptic(and hopefullly camera)

RedSky on June 2, 2008 4:48 AM

I hope it doesn’t rely on a touch screen. I get a clear indication from people who go crazy over this that they have simply never tried a DAP with tactile controls and realised just how much easier it is to control, particularly without having to get it out of your pocket every time.
