Vostok.no, the main Cowon retailer in Norway, just got listings of the new O2 players. The O2 will come in 8, 16 and 32GB as we already know, and will be released to resellers the last week of October and shipping to customers first week of November.
While Norwegian pricing cannot be compared to US or even EU pricing, the price of the players suggest that the 8GB model will cost about the same as a 30GB A3, the 16GB will be about the same as a 60GB A3 and the 32GB model will be close to the 80GB A3. If this is true for other countries as well we can expect a US pricing of about $330, $370 and $410 respectively. Far from the cheapest player around, but it should still be an interesting one nevertheless.
The most anticipated player, the S9, hasn’t got any specific release date or pricing yet but is expected to be released around the time of the O2 or not far behind. While it’s a less video centric player than the O2 it might be priced even higher considering the specs, but hopefully Cowon won’t commit market suicide by putting a too premium price on the device.

The 480×272 px res on this thing is a deal breaker for me… even the A3 that it’s supposed to be replacing has a 800×480 screen…I’m really not liking Cowon’s new strategy of getting rid of features (i.e. screen res)on a lower tier player (O2) just to get ppl to buy a more expensive model (P5)… Another example is how they left out the expansion slot on the S9 and added it on the O2…I think most ppl would prefer if they just reduced the number of models and make each one have a more complete feature set…

I agree with Lewis Liu. I’m going to have to wait a long time though for my ideal mp3 player. 32gb’s isn’t enough for me. I want 64gb+. Expansion kind of helps, but 32gb SD cards at $130 is too much… not until there more like $30 or less.Oh Puta, QUIT YELLING!

I’m looking for a new PMP device because my other one got jacked (these device should have some anti theft crap on them). If it has more features and significantly better specs than the Archos 5 I’ll consider buying one.

I was immediately sold when i found that this beautiful device which btw, ben, is not much thicker, but a little larger than the d2, also has a ,not 5, but 10 band parametric eq… that is absolutely unrivaled when it comes to customizability except of course for the rio karma where you can adjust the width and center of each of their 5 bands which makes for many more than 10, but then again the mach 3 bass puts it over the top and i know im gonna get one! and im thinking, judging by the fact that they both end in the number 2, that the o2 is a successor of the d2 simply because they both have a touch screen and are very similar except that is for the eq and screen size. also i think this one has a few more formats.
