Since the dawn of man (or at least since the release of the player) P2 users have been craving for a dock for their device. Our forum have been cramped with such threads and although some docks do exist they aren’t available everywhere and are more or less Asia only.
Our forum member dirtmonkey took matters into his own hands and went the DIY route to get his dock. His design is simple yet very functional and so far he’s made two of these docks and created awe on our forum. Hit the jump for a pictures galore and the creator’s own word on the creation process.
- Tools used
- Table Saw: to cut 4×4
- Scroll saw: to create shape of stand
- Dremel w/ router bit: to create hole for cable
- Materials used
- 4×4 wood post: cut and shaped
- P2 adapter cable
- Metal P from hobby store & the #2 sticker (to create the P2 logo)
- Spray paint
Started with a sketch, then found suitable material (4×4) in my garage, drew design on the 4×4 cut to size on the table saw, then cut out stand with a scroll saw. Then cut the front section off, drew outline of the P2 cable and routed the section out with a dremel. Ensured cable fit correctly and then glued section together. Filled in gaps around cable opening with putty, let everything dry, then sanded and painted.
The P2 logo came from some metal letters my wife had laying around from her scrapbooking days (lol) and then I put a sticker of a 2 on it.
