Archos 1 Vision Giveaway (ENDED)

archos1vision Archos 1 Vision Giveaway (ENDED)

One happy side effect of reviewing MP3 players is that you end up with boxes full of them that you never use. Normally I sell off the players I don’t want to keep to not let them get to waste. The Archos 1 Vision that I reviewed a couple of weeks ago however is frankly so cheap that selling it off used would be a waste of time. All my friends and family already have MP3 players (somehow they seem to get them at both birthdays and Christmas) so I thought I’d send it off to someone who could actually use it. I’m aware it’s not the most exciting giveaway ever for a cheap, used MP3 player but I’m equally aware that someone out there would make very good use of it- it’s a 4GB player after all. To enter the giveaway just leave a comment below stating why you should get it. Remember to put your real email in the email field (not visible to the public). I will ship it anywhere in the world that has normal postal email with the exception of Italy. The reason for excluding Italy is simply that it’s infamous for having a postal system that often “loses” packages. I’m sending the player uninsured so no reason to add to the chance of losing it by sending it to a country where the chance of that is extra high.

Also, please only enter if you really want the player and intend to use it. If you just want it because it’s free, or because you want to “see how it compares to your other 20 players”, don’t enter. I’m doing this to get a player I don’t use into the hands of someone who will, not another version of myself.

I’ll draw a winner at random on Wednesday March 31st.

Also remember to check out the other giveaways we’re currently holding. There’s one for a USB DVI adapter, one for a Zune HD case and one for a J. River Media Center 14 license code.

Update: The giveaway is now over and the winner has been contacted. On a sidenote, I’m extremnely disappointed though not really surprised about some of the people entering this contest. It was a random drawing, and the first person who was picked was blatantly lying in their comment. If you’re going to claim to only have a very old low capacity player, don’t brag about your Cowon S9 on Twitter. The second person also had a touching story, but linking to a porn site in the comment’s URL field is not acceptable. Giveaways like these are there to help people, not for some greedy bastards to lie and sneak to grab whatever they like for themselves. The future of such giveaways might be very grim is this is the result.

My main player is a Sansa Clip. This is the only player I have ever owned. Since January, it has been faulty. I would welcome this Archos as my new player, please.

Sid32 on March 28, 2010 5:26 PM

Def’t could use an new-ish audio player…

B Curry on March 28, 2010 5:31 PM

I dropped my dane-elec mini mp3 player on the ground last week. Before I could pick it up my dog grabbed it,and swallowed. Now the only way to listen to my music is to plug the head phones in his…..ASB port and poke his stomach to start. That doesn’t bother him as much as the way we have to recharge the battery. That is why I need this player…that and the fact that Roverjoe won’t let me play any Rap music. Gives him gas, but I think he is doing that on purpose?

RareHero on March 28, 2010 5:38 PM

This is a great idea, giving it away.

yitzy on March 28, 2010 5:40 PM

My player (cowon A2) was stolen together with my DSLR and lensesI don’t have extra money for a new MP3 player right now…Somtimes i use my crappy old phone to listen to music…but i would love to have a real and good MP3 playerThanksYitzy:)

electron on March 28, 2010 5:51 PM

I only have one (big) PMP, and it has really been acting up lately. I’ve also started going into more cities, as well as running more often, so a small, cheaper player would be perfect!

Bobby Huang on March 28, 2010 5:55 PM

I could definitely use the Mp3 Player. My Sansa Clip is dead! Meaning I need a replacement mp3 player.

Tom Pedel on March 28, 2010 6:04 PM

Well, I dont think I should get rid of my S9 for this player, but Im sure my little brother will make a great use of itHe was about to buy the cheep iriver E something player, but if I can get it for him for free im sure he will be happy :}Tom, Israel

Ben on March 28, 2010 6:08 PM

I would love to have a new Mp3 Player. The one I currently have and use is one that I love dearly; however, it has numerous problems (i.e. Hitting it hard enough will turn it off) So this would be awesome!

rscsr on March 28, 2010 6:10 PM

i’ve now owned 3 fucking iPods and everyone of them died and therefore I don’t intend to buy an iPod anymore, but I really need an MP3 player for the daily bus travels to school

Panch85 on March 28, 2010 6:14 PM

I used to have a zune 4gb,but it got stolen from my locker and since im a college student i cant afford to buy a new one for a while so now im using a “Portable CD Player” so im stuck with only 80 minutes of music…So it would be nice a little help.Thank You Have a Great Day!!

HunterX on March 28, 2010 6:19 PM

I’m in for this, I’m currently without an mp3 player since my cowon D2+ got stolen.

Charles on March 28, 2010 6:22 PM

I can’t get my old iPod to sync with my computer. This player would be a real treat.

JouHou on March 28, 2010 6:22 PM

I dropped my Cowon i9 and the screen got broken.

Vilai Yaansana on March 28, 2010 6:33 PM

Jesus would want me to have this player.

DRS on March 28, 2010 6:42 PM

So my 4yr old daughter can have a play of her own instead of my Zune HD…

Lithaine on March 28, 2010 6:50 PM

Thanks for the generous give away, I would love to have this player since I’m just getting in to players and gear associated with them but am in between jobs right now and can’t afford much. I love music and would most definitely put it to good use. Either way though good luck to everybody who enters!

leavenfish on March 28, 2010 7:04 PM

Honestly, this would not be for me, it would be for my father. I visited him for his 74th birthday and he took an interest in my new Sansa Fuze – amazed that you could get so much music and that it sounded so good into such a small package. I was thinking of buying another Fuze and ripping his CD’s to it.

Debayan on March 28, 2010 7:06 PM

Anythingbutipod will do.

hawkshot on March 28, 2010 7:20 PM

I am about to graduate from college.I have no money.I have no job.I think my Zune 80 is about to die.

Tony Danza on March 28, 2010 7:27 PM

I still try to get by with my Sony MiniDisc walkman from 2001 that I purchased instead of buying the newly released IPod. I’d love to move into the 21st century and listen to my tunes on this player!

Zen on March 28, 2010 7:31 PM

I would like this player because a friend of mine lost her sansa and i would love to get her another player, but she doesnt want me to spend money on her

WindSpear on March 28, 2010 7:34 PM

i would love to have this player, always was intrigued by archos but never have the money, my sansa fuze has gone caput after 3 months, and my old sansa e250 is K.I.AGood luck to other people in the contest :)

btofkz on March 28, 2010 7:50 PM

A new player would be great after a Meizu M6 with a broken screen!

François-Denis Gonthirt on March 28, 2010 8:35 PM

I would like to have this player to replace my iRiver LPlayer which I like a lot but that has some nasty problem in Linux, even in MSC mode. When I manually copy stuff on the LPlayer the order gets totally fscked up and the LPlayer stupidly plays the music in the order it is written.Hopefully this nice Archos player doesn’t have this problem.

RobertW on March 28, 2010 8:42 PM

Would love to get this player for my wife. She has been talking about getting an MP3 player but did not think we have it in our budget to get her one. She is right. So getting her this would solve her want for music an not spending the money on a player.

Albert Tjong on March 28, 2010 8:46 PM

My cowon d2 screen cracked so i need new mp3thinking to get a budget mp3never have an archos player before so this giveaway is exactly click to me hehe

Leen on March 28, 2010 8:53 PM

My second-hand Cowon D2 have been broken since June 2008 and I have not have the money to purchase a new mp3 player.I have Shure SE530 (someone gave it to me second-handed) and I desperately need a mp3 player to go with it. Otherwise, the Shure is just going to go to waste since my 3-year-old Acer laptop keeps hissing VERY loudly with S530.I’m a college student so I haven’t had the money to purchase a mp3 player myself.

Johnny Shyu on March 28, 2010 9:01 PM

I’d love to be able to use this player as a multimedia source for my church.

Aron on March 28, 2010 9:21 PM

I have no job and my samsung q1 battery life is like 1 hour.

ProE on March 28, 2010 9:34 PM

Hello! Just send this mp3 player to hospital somebody could really use it!!! I was in hospital for a long time recovering from motorcycle accident and I know how it’s boring sometimes. So give it to charity this is will be really fair!!!

James on March 28, 2010 9:49 PM

My father loves music but isn’t tech savvy enough to fully enjoy higher-end players. I think the simplicity this player offers for casual users will probably better suit him.

Fizzle on March 28, 2010 9:59 PM

I have an ipod and I’m trying to convert

Gname on March 28, 2010 10:00 PM

My Zen Microphoto fell to its death this year. I had previous dropped it last Spring, but was able to replace the hard drive with a CF card. At that point I figured it was indestructible. I was wrong. I dropped it twice in the same ten minutes, about five feet from the ground. Don’t know what happened, but I could not get it to read the hard drive. After opening it up about four times, I noticed the ribbon cable had a latch to hold it in place that was not secured fully. When I reassembled it, the touch pad stopped working. I’ve been playing music off my phone for the past four or five months.

Snarf on March 28, 2010 10:04 PM

I was going to tell the tale of my Zune 30 falling on pavement, bringing about a slow, painful death, but I think the guy a few posts up who has an iPod is in way more need of this than me.

Nick on March 28, 2010 10:31 PM

My wife could really use a nice little mp3 player.

Justin on March 28, 2010 10:45 PM

I’d like to win this for my 9 year old son. He has a first gen iPod Shuffle, but hates it because he can’t choose what song he wants to hear. This Archos would be much better for him.

dragnandy on March 28, 2010 11:09 PM

right now, im using my phone as an mp3 player and need a replacement, QUICK! =D

Brew on March 28, 2010 11:21 PM

I lost my last player while running through the rain and it fell out of my pocket. So I really do need a new one. Alas, I have no money!

curiouswonderer on March 28, 2010 11:26 PM

Because I live in Canada, the land of “just iPods”.Or you could donate it to a charity. I’m just sayin’.

steven on March 28, 2010 11:27 PM

Well, I would surely like to win since I have no player, so anything would do.

cromag on March 28, 2010 11:34 PM

I’m a Creative user in general, but I have an inexpensive little player that I use at night, with headphone earpieces under my pillow, to lull me to sleep with ambient music. But that player, an Apacer Audio Steno, is getting old and only plays for about 90 minutes on a charge — and sometimes that’s not long enough. (I have teenagers.) I was going to buy another cheap player, but money is tight (I have teenagers) and I’d love to give this one a good home!

Alex on March 28, 2010 11:50 PM

My brother is starting college next year. I was trying to save up for a good player to buy him, but this would be perfect cause now I could use the money I saved to help with textbooks!

Jonathan on March 28, 2010 11:51 PM

I would love this because one I don’t have a job at the moment and can’t afford a new player and second because I have never even owned an mp3 player with a good brand name on it. I have an insignia mp3 player that works ok but the audio quality isn’t that great which made me switch back to an old panasonic cd player that likes to skip even with the anti skip feature on. I also feel like good things never happen to me so it would be great to get something for free for once that I could and would use. I would be very grateful.

Jordan on March 28, 2010 11:52 PM

I could definitely find a use for a new player

Justin on March 28, 2010 11:53 PM

Well, not as good a reason as having it break, but I lost my ZuneHD 16 GB the other day. Haven’t decided on a new music player (unsure if I want another ZHD), so I guess this can be it =D

dave on March 29, 2010 12:00 AM

I live in north Philly (PA) and my beloved cowon i7 was stolen from me although i keep very good care of it and watch it well, somehow it was still stolen! I’m a college kid and have absolutely no money so having a free replacement would be a godsend! Music is one thing that makes me truly happy so please choose me!

Michael on March 29, 2010 12:02 AM

I have my ZVM as portable movies, i have an iPod touch (that I got as a gift) to listen to music at like Cross Country meets or at Track or something like that. If I win, i could use this one for those things and possibly sell my iPod or just use it in my car permanently.

Kevin on March 29, 2010 12:38 AM

If the specs for battery life are any accurate, Id love to get this player; I don’t think my current mp3 player lasts 10 hours. Also I like the fact that it uses MSC.

Ha on March 29, 2010 12:50 AM

This is great that you’re doing this. I’m still using my sansa e260 4gb with a cracked screen.

Ashoju on March 29, 2010 1:05 AM

The mp3 player I am using now is an old ipod, borrowed from my father, that no longer syncs. As a poor college student, this would be appreciated.

Barca on March 29, 2010 1:11 AM

I would really use it and enjoy it.

katrina on March 29, 2010 1:19 AM

I would like to win the Archos Vison 1 player.I don’t own any portable media player at all. I don’t need all the fancy features like other players, just a normal player that i can relax & listen to my favourite music to beat the daily stress of life. Thank you.

Javen on March 29, 2010 1:51 AM

My Sansa View 8GB just died heading back to campus on a 24-hour train ride from Portland, OR to San Luis Obispo, CA. The LCD screen is totally screwed up. I would very much like an Archos 1 Vision to replace my dead mp3 player.

Felipe Torres on March 29, 2010 2:27 AM

Since my Cowon S9 was stolen (in the end of last month), I have no music player. This Archos would do a great job replacing it. I don’t mind if my new player has “bad build quality, awkward design, peculiar button placements, an undeniably unnecessary power switch”, as you said in your review, I just wan’t to be able to listen to my music on the run. This, specially, would be great.

anup on March 29, 2010 2:33 AM

please send the player to me. i have an old creative player that plays off on 1 AA battery. thats not much in today’s standards and even this archos player will be a big upgrade for me. hopefully i will get it in the lucky draw!

Carlos on March 29, 2010 3:47 AM

My one and only MP3 player is a very handy and well used Ergotech ET-U1B12 device, which is shaped like an oversized thumbdrive. It runs from a single AAA NMH battery which provides about 6 hours of playback when fully charged. That might seem limiting but its a good balance for its 128MB of memory, 128MB is more than adequate for 8 hours worth of MP3 files, depending on how they were encoded.Other features include USB 1.1 interface which is OK considering the memory limit.Voice memo recorder, which I actually do use. Not for voice memos but lyric ideas and guitar riffs, when inspiration arises. Although the menu system is a little clunky, there really are people out there that use this feature.Extremely lightweight, compact and robust. Easy to slip in your pocket or hang around your neck. I think this gadget will last forever. So why do I need the Archos 1 Vision?Well as great as my Ergotech may be, I do need something that can playback video, even at 128×128 pixels would be fine. And although March 28 was my birthday, somehow I’ve never received an MP3 device as a gift.So I’d be more than happy to provide your Archos 1 Vision with a good home.

I’m a junior enlisted soldier in Iraq, who has dealt with 6 months of the run-a-round with Microsoft for my Zune 120g, the screen broke within the first week of owning, then the software/hardware crapped out on me in a month. When i went home on R&R, Microsoft was suppose to have a box waiting for me at my parents house to send the zune in for repairs but the box never came. After talking with the shipping department for 30 mins, i was able to get them to send a replacement box to an APO(army post office). Two weeks later the box shows up, i send out the zune which takes another 2 weeks to get to them. Then it takes 15+ plus days to do there repairs and another 15 days to mail it back to me. When i opened the box, it was the same zune i had sent in and NO repairs had been done. I called zune up again and was told that the cracked screen(just the glass) voided the warranty and unless i want to spend 89.99 to replace it the entire screen, there was nothing they could do for me. Which means waiting over over 60+ days and 90 bucks to fix glass for a software/hardware issue. Maybe an email from the repair center would have been nice but no, not for this soldier. Anyways i sit at a computer for 12 hrs a day everyday singing army songs in my head. pls help, i cant take it anymore.

MingLiang on March 29, 2010 8:37 AM

Hi, I’m from Singapore. After I lost my precious NWZ-A728 last November, I had to use my crappy mobile phone to listen to music. As now I have to take about an hour trip to my school everyday and the battery of my mobile phone drains at astonishing speed when in use, I have to charge it frequently and this can be annoying at times. Also, as my birthday is on 31st March, I really hope that I can receive this player as a birthday gift. Thanks and good luck to every one here XD

Todor Todorov on March 29, 2010 9:38 AM

I would love to have this player because i am trying to sell my 2GB Clip+ (money shortage) and my Sennheiser IE8s are going to be lonely. Arrogant bastard, that’s me :)

Tay on March 29, 2010 9:39 AM

Still a mini-disk junkie this would be more practical.

Cindy on March 29, 2010 9:43 AM

I have been looking to give my mom an mp3 player, but I am unemployed and money is really tight in our house. I think she would really enjoy listening to music while she cleans/works and that this would be a really great mp3 player for her!

WikiWarrior on March 29, 2010 9:50 AM

Hey man, thanks for offering this up. Now, i already have a DAP, so this would be for my grandma because her Sansa c200 just died and she asked me to find her a new player… this would be perfect! thanks for offering this up!

DavidH on March 29, 2010 10:05 AM

I am currently unable to buy my son (age 9) the one thing he really wants, an mp3 player of any kind. Money is so tight now, but it breaks my heart to deprive my son from one of the most important things a young mind should have, music.

Ryan Terpstra on March 29, 2010 10:57 AM

My first child was born last week. Music is one of my greatest loves…and I went to put on music for her (we played music for her all the time in utero) and my Sansa View wouldn’t turn on. Talked with support and it’s definitely toast and out of warranty. Can’t really afford to replace it and will take anything I can get! Thanks for consideration.

I would love the Archos. I’m a HS teacher and have never had any of these personal music players. I’d like one for me to enjoy, but I’d also like to be able to use it in the classroom by playing songs for the students that are related to things we are studying. (We have a filter on our school computers and alot of music sites are blocked). Thanks so much — very generous of you! Claire

My 13 year old nephews brand new Zune HD was stolen out of his backpack the other day. He was so upset and I think having a player like this would help make him a bit happier. I felt so bad when I heard about his losing his player, he had it for 2 days before this happened.

Matt on March 29, 2010 11:49 AM

I was forced by my fiancée’s father to buy him a DAP, because he bought himself a treadmill, took her old iriver T30, and now he demands his one player. If I ever want to marry this pretty lady, so happens to be his daughter I need to get that Arcos!!!

tomker on March 29, 2010 12:32 PM

i owned once an archos 605 and would like to have another one from this brand. especially that for now i don’t have any other player than my old CD player – iriver imp350. it’s getting too warm since it’s spirng and i don’t have enough pockets to carry it around anymore.

Charlotte on March 29, 2010 12:33 PM

I always love listening to music, specially when I’m outdoors. My MP3 player is really old now and has a small capacity. I’m really very careful with my stuff considering that I still have my player all these time.Having this player would be a great gift, since I just had my birthday this March 21.Though all I can say that having this player is purely for personal use, I assure you that I’ll make good use and be careful with it, in case you choose to give it to me.Thanks!

Tu Nguyen on March 29, 2010 12:38 PM

Richard S. on March 29, 2010 1:17 PM

I have been using really cheap MP3 players that you typically find in cereal boxes. After our Ipod broke for the 3rd time, I gave up on I-tunes forever. So now I have this cheap tinny MP3 player and I have no idea what to buy…so “free” really helps that decision. This is a great giveaway, thanks!

Tom on March 29, 2010 1:17 PM

Hey Andreas,I’d really appreciate you considering me for the contest, I’ve had to slim down my collection to the bare neccesities (stone + sansa e200) to help offset school fees. my current players are a little outdated to say the least and I’d really enjoy having a more up to date player. Also, I’m from canada where the mp3 player selection is limited to pretty much sandisk and ipooThanks :) -Tom-Tom

Jasper on March 29, 2010 1:30 PM

I would give this player to my father. He now has a 256 MB player from Packard Bell without a screen…I think he would be happy with it, especially because of the much larger memory! Thanks!Jasper.

thepoorboywithoutanmp3player on March 29, 2010 1:38 PM

I already have had an mp3 player, but it was such a prehistorical usb-stick of 1 Gig, that I bought very impulsively. Although it was a piece of crap, I used it. But it got full quite fast, and it started crashing all the time, so I couldn’t use it anymore. After a while, I wanted to have a new one, and I saw this Archos. I fell immediately in love with it, and when I was searching the whole internet for some vids and reviews, I saw this huge offer. I would really appreciate it if I would win it, and if so, I will care for it as if it were my own child. :D Greatsthepoorboywithoutanmp3player

well i had a Sony Walkman E-340 which i bought thanks to the recommendations from this website. i had it for around 4 months and really liked how good is produced sound and the value. i was at school while drinking water and dropped it in a bucket of water on he side, sad to say it messed up. ever since i’ve wanted a new one that is small and reliable.

David B. on March 29, 2010 2:45 PM

I am a full time college student and my new mp3 player recently broke the first time I left the house with it. Constant music is a must for me as it helps me with my two degrees I am currently going for in Digital Media Design.

Heather Gutierrez on March 29, 2010 2:51 PM

Hi Andreas,I’m a 20 year old female college student and I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve never really had my own mp3 player. :( I came from a poor family and I’m currently always broke. I always dreamed of getting one at 15 because music was my only way of escaping the realities of daily life. I was given a Phillips 128 MB mp3 player from a kind friend two years ago who upgraded to an iPod. Since then I’ve been using the 128 MB player but it seems to be dieing on me. :( I enjoy visiting this site and viewing all the awesome players that are released and hope I can save money for one someday. I would really appreciate this Archos 1 player especially the 4 GB of space! It would be nice to load a whole album for once. =)

Mark S on March 29, 2010 2:54 PM

It’s my son’s birthday in 2 weeks (he’ll be 8) and he has been asking for a new mp3 player. He is currently using a 1gb ipod shuffle (the one that looks like a stick of gum, but is being held together by duct tape). I would really love to surprise him for his birthday!

Just got out of school and have no job, no apartment and no girlfriend (she couldnt compete w my school’s schedule)…I could definitely use a player for those long hours of job searching and exercise (to blow off stress and extra energy)Adding insult to injury, my old Dell G1 Jukebox Player (yeah, old!) is dying on me and here in Costa Rica we have lovely beaches and mountains, but few options of mp3 players. If you want, instead of mailing it, you can come down to drop it, and enjoy a week off in paradise.

Carson L on March 29, 2010 3:20 PM

I am currently 15.I used to own a sansa player that i got for my 14th birthday (it was a 2gb fuze) but it broke and Sansa refused to fix it even though it had a 1 year warranty. I then bought a 2gb clip+ with birthday money from happy 15th, that broke in a month ( both broke because of an electrical problem, not my fault)and they would not replace it even though it also had a warranty. I am now searching for an mp3 player that i can depend on, but i dont really have any money to buy one so…. yeah. that is why i would like this mp3 player.

Coda on March 29, 2010 3:28 PM

It would make my day … my week … my bustrip …

“Heather Gutierrez on March 29, 2010 2:51 PMHi Andreas,I’m a 20 year old female college student and I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve never really had my own mp3 player. =)”Just fuckin give it to her, seriously.

My girlfriend is in need of a mp3 player. Her player’s display is broken so browsing podcasts is a matter of luck.

Not the best player out there, however, I am currently using only my phone for music, and I could really use something to just listen to some tracks in the bus or while jogging, other than my cell.

Rokas on March 29, 2010 4:25 PM

Funny, I’ve stalked this site for years without leaving nary a comment.I’d use the “I’m the only one from Uganda (Africa)” card, but that’s so totally lame. And annoying beyond belief. But, I could seriously use this. I have a huge collection of Audiobooks, language courses and or course, music that I’d love to listen to on the move, sadly, I can’t really get one at the moment (read the last few years), priorities and all. Basically, want to, but never owned one. All I do is drool.Endlessly.So yeah, pick me.

I’m interested in this as currently I do not have an audio player, and this is an extremely cost effective way to acquire one.I will clear up the fact that I do not have a sad story, I’m just interested in the audio player.Thanks.

NXTreme on March 29, 2010 5:41 PM

Well, I would probably take it apart. Yeah, you heard right. I would cruelly dissect its sensitive silicon insides (all in the sake of science, right?), take some pictures, put it all back together, post the pictures on a blogspot and give/sell this player to a friend who “lost” his s.beat (ok, well, it kicked the bucket). While it might not be the best use of the player it would definitely be interesting to see what makes it tick.

Chris on March 29, 2010 5:41 PM

I went on a trip and bought a magnet, put it in my pocket… It pwned my 5g ipod =).

Bubble on March 29, 2010 5:43 PM

Here’s the luvrl story. So, I while back I got a Sansa View. Not the best choice, I admit but, I was truly in an anythingbutipod situation. So, I get home all excited and find out that the system is faultly. AKA the screen enjoys freezing at random moments. I don’t know why or how. I took it back to the store and the dude was all like, “Oh, just turn it on and then off”. Which would be awesome advice if the on-off motion did not completly devastate the battery. To add to the freezing, I quickly realized that when Sandisk said that MPEG-4 was THE only format for the View, they meant it seriously. So, no videos for me on this unless i intend to spend hours converting to MPEG-4 and then hours actually syncing it on to the player. Sigh. And then the little on-off tab switch thing broke out. I am now using the pointy end of my headphones (which are also broken) to shift the little tab into the on position.Did I mention, I can’te turn it off without it refusing to turn on for about 5 hours? Yup. I have to pause and then wait of the device to turn off by itself.Do to the fact that I live neither in the USA or Korea there is limited mp3 choice here. I first wanted the Samsung P3 and then the Cowen D2. Unfortunatly they are hard to find and IF found, are overpriced. So…I’m desperate.

Luis Bravo on March 29, 2010 5:45 PM

I want it because I was thinking of getting one and if I have it for free it would be awesome, and because I am your biggest fan from Chile and I take a look at your web everyday. thanks

D-Block on March 29, 2010 6:03 PM

I’m very interested in this because I am still using a Creative with a 4 GB hard drive inside and I’ve been looking to upgrade. I’ve been lurking around and following your reviews and this looks like the type of player I would love.Thank you for this awesome give away chance.

Stig on March 29, 2010 7:44 PM

I’d really like to use this one. My Creative Zen Nano has spent the last couple of years in a drawer, since it only supports lossy formats. (I find listening to MP3-files tiresome after just a few minutes, and I’ve tried both MP3 and FLAC on mye computer – and found that the reason was the lossy compression)But this one supports FLAC and has ok storage (don’t need my whole CD collection available at all times). So I would really appreciate getting this one (and use it A LOT!!).

CELR on March 29, 2010 8:39 PM

i use an 80gb zune, but you have nooo idea how useful this would be for all the activities i do that require a non-HDD player, (i.e. getting dropped). I think i would be a perfect user, rather than a poser for free stuff.

Jerry P on March 29, 2010 8:39 PM

I do not want this player for myself, rather it would be for my nephew. My wife and I brought him into our home a couple of years ago after his mother was killed by a drunk driver. He really loves music, he says it sometimes makes him feel closer to his mom. We bought him an mp3 player a couple of months back but it got broken when his backpack was knocked from his hand by a bully on the bus. I would like to brighten his day.

I’ve had bad luck with players. Last summer I ordered a new Cowon D2 which Purolator delivered to some crazy frenchman down the street who denies it ever happened. Purolator never paid up for the mistake, so I wound up getting an old sansa fuze which I eventually converted with rockbox. It was great while it lasted. Now it’s as broke as I am, and I’m left with no means of portable music. Looking awfully hard at the $10 players at Wmart, but this would be SO much better!

jjrosaria on March 29, 2010 10:33 PM

I almost dropped my sony walkman on hard concrete doing paper running. I don’t want it to get broken and I need a secondary player to use..

Josh on March 29, 2010 11:53 PM

Currently I only have an old Zen Stone (2gig, no screen) and the battery is becoming less powerful each time I charge it. Could use an upgrade.

Brian on March 29, 2010 11:57 PM

The only DAP i’ve ever owned is a creative zen sleek. I got it for Christmas at least five years ago and while i love it to death,(despite it’s lack of color screen) the poor thing is starting to go. It freezes on a regular basis and the battery hardly gets me through a day of school. Also i recently got a pair of Klipsch image S4 headphones and would love to see what they sound like from a newer player. Thanks for your consideration!

Rick on March 30, 2010 1:13 AM

Look I’m not going to lie like 80%+ of the people here for the sake of an mp3 player.I go running fairly frequently with my beloved Archos 605. As you could imagine, lugging around something of that size when going on a 10km jog is a bit of a pain in the ***. A smaller archos might come in handy :D danke

I would love to have a new mp3 player. my Sony Keeps saying umable to play some tracks & drives me up the proverbial wall. It still works, but would like to give it to my brother, so he can listen to music on it. Then, I don’t have to keep listenening to the same 20 songs he plays in the open on his iphone. I only draw a little bit of money from unemployment right now…so, a new one is out of question for me as of right now. Please help!

Dylan on March 30, 2010 7:40 AM

I would love to have this mp3 player as I dont have one and I never have. I listen to music all the time on a cd player but its hard to carry around a cd player everywhere you go, like an hour on the bus to and from school every day, so I can only listen to it at home. I don’t have an income as I am still a kid and I dont get pocket money so buying one is not possible.

Filip Ruymen on March 30, 2010 7:59 AM

My sansa clip died on me and I haven’t got around to buy me a new one.I really could use a new mp3 player.

SJ on March 30, 2010 8:10 AM

I wanna give this to my best friend in the galaxy as his creative zen is spoilt. He wouldn’t let me buy him another one and threatened to return me if i do. So i really hope i can get one for him!

Imen Boussayoud on March 30, 2010 9:52 AM

I would like this mp3 player because the only other mp3 player i’ve ever owned, was a 2gb coby, that broke in around 3 months. I don’t have an mp3 player at this time, and i haven’t had one in around 3 years. I would be a great owner for this mp3 player, and i would take care of it. Even though it’s only 30-40 bucks, i can’t afford it, because i need to give money for my senior dues, which are over 100 dollars. I have been trying to get a sansa clip, or a clip plus by going on websites such as swagbucks, and survery websites to get amazon gift cards. So far, i’ve only gotten 10 dollars worth. I would put all of my music on it, and having this mp3 would make me very happy. Please consider me.:)

Sherwin Tolentino on March 30, 2010 9:52 AM

I would actually like to give this to my cousins. Since their father (my Uncle) passed away, money has been really hard to come by and they have just left their home and possessions in Iraq for a better life. The oldest is really into electronic gadgets and computers so this would go a long way to familiarizing him with the latest technologies and serve as an mp3 player and a USB drive.

JD on March 30, 2010 11:28 AM

My 6 year old son loves listening to auidobooks but has a hard time changing CDs, his frustration is magnified at bedtime (putting CD 1 of 5 on a repeat loop does not work). I would give this to him and it would get used and loved many hours a night.

Controllerboy on March 30, 2010 3:36 PM

I bought an old 128MB player about four years ago. It lasted me for a pretty long while but when I was wandering around it must have fallen out of my backpack, never to be seen again.Desperate for new music, I bought a zen nano plus mp3 player. This player lasted me for about a year and has until quite recently been in service of my ex-girlfriend as I had given it to her because I had bought a 250 euro mp3 player, a creative zen vision m at that time. I was very happy with it but after a week, I had to return it because something was wrong with the harddrive. After receiving it back from the store, it lasted about three months and died without a reason. I did not get any warranty because “I did it”. It was the notorious screen lines error quite a lot of people have had with this player. After a bit of moaning I decided to take things in my own hands and I bought a second-hand cowon X5 with a dead battery. After a lot of trial and error, almost-exploding batteries and stuff like that, I was very proud to present to my friends my kind-of-home-made excellent sounding cowon audio player. After two weeks, it fell out of my pocket while playing soccer, breaking the harddrive connector. There I was again, in sorrow without an mp3player. I bought a second-hand cowon D2 and loved it. Used it for about a year, totally baffled about it’s quality. After a year of intense, 3hour a day use, it died on me.After the death of my D2, I decided to go for the tuny cheapskate solution called the sansa clip. Loved it and never left the house without it. Unfortunately, the player went for a walk in the house together with my bluetooth headphone adapter and for the moment I am totally clueless where it’s hanging around. For the moment, I listen to music with my nokia 5530 xpressmusic. It has only a 2gb SDcard but I can live with it. There are other people who need this player far more then I do. I am only posting here to tell my mp3-player story to some quite spoilt people who have posted above this one. Decide wisely :) and cheers for the giveaway

FF on March 30, 2010 3:44 PM

I haven’t seen my old man for almost 8 years, but I’ll be meeting him next month. He always used to enjoy listening to music, but he’s never owned an mp3 player. I think one would suit him nicely :)

Shawn on March 30, 2010 4:06 PM

I’m a poor college student who listens to music quite a lot. Unfortunately my ipod is seven years old and gave out a few weeks ago. I can’t afford another ipod right now and would like to try another brand. Music is just about the only thing that keeps me sane after all the all nighters I have to pull in engineering.

Mike on March 30, 2010 4:24 PM

This would make an ideal gift for my mum, who loves music but avoids electronics and has never had an MP3 player (although, she HAS set the time on her old VCR …). I can see pre-loading it with music and sending it to her for Mother’s Day. Thanks for the chance!

Laura on March 30, 2010 4:30 PM

Pick me randomly please. My Zen Microphoto (which was so silly to buy, because I never used the photo options) is not getting along with my laptop at all. They are not friends. The firmware isn’t updated, or something, and whenever I update it the computer updates and BOOM they are enemies again. I can’t deal with the fighting. I like your site because I hate the ipod, and its stupid little circle thing I can’t ever figure out how to work. The mp3 player above has buttons. I adore buttons,Laura

Tully on March 30, 2010 5:47 PM

I would love to have this player because the one player I have is a Creative Zen Sleek Photo, which is getting long in tooth. This little player would be an excellent backup for when my Sleek inevitably breaks. Not only this, but I am in need of a player that I can take to work out without worrying about destroying the inner mechanics. And it is Archos, a company of which I am a huge fan, even with their warts.

That’s all i guess.

Apocalypse on March 30, 2010 8:18 PM

This is my situation. I live in jamaica. Only media players sold here are ipods (which i dislike mostly cause thats what everyone likes and also i think itunes suck). My options for getting a decent media player is to order online which would cause me to pay like double the retail price (after customs and duty taxes). My media player now is my phone which battery dies in like four hours (on a good day). And the sound of the phone and earbuds annoy the hell out of me cause SQ sucks. Thats basically all i can say. If i get chosen then awesome if not then whoever wins deserved it more than i did. Peace

Wanda on March 30, 2010 8:43 PM

My son’s Sansa e100 has finally bit the dust and he’s asked for a new mp3 player. I’ll get him one – probably a sansa since they’re so cheap – but if I can get this for free even better.

Isabel on March 30, 2010 11:48 PM

I’m currently using my phone as an MP3 player(with the use of a memory card)cause I can’t afford having a decent player. One thing I hate about using memory cards is that it suddenly corrupts and all of the files in it will be lost worst it can’t be used again. Having a 4GB player is enough for me since music is just what I want. And also I record my voice while reading notes so that I can listen to it while I’m going to school or doing a household chore.Thank you. :D

Aaron M on March 31, 2010 12:22 AM

Neither my close family or myself are particularly wealthy, and when I lost my Sansa (which I’d gotten for free about two years back) I couldn’t really afford to get another one. All the money I make at work goes to paying my college tuition. This summer I’m going to be working a full time job and will have to make a 20-30 minute commute both ways every day to walk from my apartment to the job, since I don’t own a car. It would be really, really nice if I could have a way to play music when I walk — walking is pretty drab without music. Given that the walk will take up an hour or so each day (and given how boring and borderline frightening walking through the neighborhoods here can be), I can’t overstate how much it’d improve my summer. There are so many deserving people in this thread, though — good on you for giving it away to any of us!

jolie lablanc on March 31, 2010 1:02 AM

i would love to have this mp3 player. in the last year ive bought 2 different used ipods from ebay, and they have both failed me within a few months of purchasing them. I have no more money to buy another. :(

Andy on March 31, 2010 1:35 AM

I’ve been without an mp3 player for over 6 months now; my beloved Sansa Clip tragically died when it was smashed between a backpack and a wall. I’ve been wanting to replace it, but I haven’t been able to spare any money for luxury items in a while: tuition and rent come first. In that time, I’ve realized just how much I’ve come to miss the small pleasure of having my favorite music by my side while I’m drudging through my painfully long school days. An Archos 1 may be a far cry from a Sansa Clip, but it may be just the thing to bring that small spark of joy back into my life…

Angelo on March 31, 2010 1:36 AM

I have no fancy reason for joining this contest. I have never owned an ipod or for that matter any other kind of dap. I just use my phone and my pc for my music source. I just started reading this kind of stuff( headphones, pocket amps, daps ) lately, so owning a dedicated music player would be my first step into the audiophile world. :)
