Dear Martin,
I wonder if you could kindly put me in touch with the manufacturers. I want to import their products into my country. Would really appreciate it! Thank you!

@ Martin - refreshing and great review Martin. Appreciate it considering the muddied waters of information and verbosity on the net in relation to sound etc.

I am left somewhat confused on what I should actually purchase for my set-up. Your review has helped though. I am a "consumer" audiophile and have, dare I say it, an iPod Touch (4th gen) and Sennheiser 595's. I have noticed that the Touch can drive my cans, but I am unsure if I am getting the best out of them.

Would you recommend the E7? I am looking to use it for portable (well, as much as it can be with the iPod Touch) and netbook usage with a LOD set-up.
My fear for the E5 is that it is still relatively underpowered (albeit, more portable) and my concern is that the E7 may have a discernible hiss that I obviously want to avoid.
PS Keep up the good work. Thanks in advance.

@ Shaun on 18-02- thanks for the update.

I'm the least technical person alive. Does anyone know if i can connect this to my iphone. I'm trying to amplify the sound of the music I play while riding my motorcycle. Could I also connect my gps at the same time and therefore also hear the verbal driving instructions.

Just thought I would post an 'update' on this amp, for anyone else considering it. I purchased it yesterday and it seems Fiio have implemented some of Martin's suggestions. In the box were some clear plastic stickers, to cover the front of the amp and protect from scratches. The firmware was also tweaked, the main menu now loops and it takes ~10 seconds before it 'times-out'. Only small details, but improvements none the less.

Martin, I'm looking at the fiio E7 for an Ipod classic 120g, 6th gen for an overall better sounding experience. Should I go with the E5,or E7 and I've been told to get the Fiio LOD3 for the E7, but will I get just as good of sound with the E5 and no LOD?

Nice review Martin, I wonder if you can recommend me an amp for akg k430 which gives good sound, heavy bass and is money wise for student, just asking because I'm new to this. Thank you.

Indeed I say the Clip (and all other AMS Sansa players) have a better output stage than any Cowon. I'm not talking about subjectively perceived "better" EQs or sound enhancements, but played flat the Sansas are without doubt the better players. You can check my RMAA measurements for more information: http://rmaa.elektrokrishna.com/

"With a good player like the Clip+ or a Sony one it won't do much good, but it indeed will make high impedance headphones play louder. It's more useful for players with less optimal output stages, like Cowons, irivers, and such - on these players it will restore rolled-off bass response, might improve channel crosstalk a bit (but not much), and might at least lessen the hiss of their outputs with low-impedance IEMs."Did you just say the Clip+'s headphone out sounds better than a Cowon's? That is just wrong. I have a Clip+ but I will be the first to say it doesn't sound as good unamped as say a D2 or an iAudio 9.

Nice review Martin, thx! You mentionned the volume control has only 20 steps compared to the 60 steps of the E7!But does it mean E7 can get around the double of volume sound than the model E5?thank youextra question out of subject!ps:what do you think about the dns set up sound of Samsung player?
