Matt,
First, you should check out the documentation and simulator that Creative has put together (here). It probably has the best general explanation of how to program on the X-Fi2. There is a good site here about LUA for beginners. For a little more advanced info you should check out the X-Fi2 LUA wiki (here). I'd suggest that you read through the documentation that Creative has in their package and then try to take apart one of the existing apps/games.

As for the DVD that is not working, I'm not sure how much help I can give you. I've had problems ripping these 'non-professional' DVDs as well. Without the DVD to test out different configurations, I'm basically shooting in the dark. I'm working on a solution using the program called MediaCoder, but I'm running into several problems there as well.

U seem to know quite a bit about this whole deal, Im totally new to it all and am interested in learning how to programe for the X-Fi 2. I have a day job and dont have loads of time to get into it but would be good to know how to get into programming. If you know a good way to learn how to get into it then id appreciate a pointer in the right direction- im a quick learner but dont always have the patience to learn something inless I know what I'm being told is right.

If uve got any ideas on how to gey started then much appreciated.

Oh, and ur walkthrough on DVD rips is great, but ive found one that doesnt seem to work. It was a free DVD that came with a newspaper but doesnt want to work for some reason. Without knowing technicalities I dont know was specifically wrong but any ideas u might have would be great.
