I have only forced the driver mode change, I have not tried copying files to it in UMS mode. Q: does it have video out ? A: not at this time, though the proprietary port may have a connection for it Q: how is navigation done A: file and folder and ID3 post to this if you have more information PS: This FAQ can be applied for the S610 as well (not entirely) |
Good job yuki, hopefully that will clear many doubts for people searching for a new DAP.
Note: S610 series are very similar to A810 so this info is also helpful to anyone who is interested in S610 series |
how long is the cord on the in ears with and without the included extension?
|
the length with extender is about 900 mm
|
The MDR EX082's follow the same J-Design that is typically found in the Sony earphone lineup, i.e. their meant to be worn around the neck. Without the extension cord, it measures about 35 inches from the right earphone to the tip of the plug. The distance of the cord from the J Junction to the tip of the plug is about 13 inches.
When worn properly, the plug is long enough to reach any area of your upper left arm (from shoulder to elbow). FYI, the extension cord measures about 21 1/2 inches. |
Just to clarify:

Videora also works great for converting video. |
out of curiosity, has anyone tried inserting an a/v line into the headphone jack to see if there is a video out contact in there? (haha ok i highly doubt it but hey, it's worth it if it's there)
more realistically, someone should sacrifice a cable and pull apart the proprietary usb. before the sony, i wanted a sansa view and came across this thread: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=21632 |
Sacrificing a $18 cable? That can be painful if you don't get positive results..
Anyway it would be nice to have video out on these babies |

I just wanted to add that there's a slight difference between the 810 and 610 Clear Stereo modes. On the 810, there are 3 options that are based on the assumption that you are using the included MDR EX082 earphones. You can choose between Clear Stereo w/ the extension cord, Clear Stereo w/o the extension cord, and Clear Stereo Off. I thought this was gimicky at first, but I can actually hear a subtle difference between each of the three modes.
The 610 series only has the option of turning Clear Stereo on or off. |
I'm looking at buying an 818.....can you tell me how easy it is to switch on. The shop I was in the other day had a 610 series player on working display and it was switched on with only the slightest touch of any of the front buttons and then immediately started playing a track....looks very easy to run the battery down if it's in a knocked in a busy pocket and you're not listening to it.....my current Samsung needs the play button held down for 2 seconds and that is far more practical and I've never needed to use the hold button on it.
|
You just have to tap the play button. It's recessed, though, so it's not trivial to do. I flip the hold switch whenever I stop listening.

You need to go into device manager and choose the a800 then choose the ums driver by selecting show all devices
|

There is a hold button so hitting any of the buttons would do nothing if you select that option. |
Quote:
1. Pull up your Device Manager 2. Right click the Walkman and go to "Update Driver..." 3. Select "Install from a list or specific locations (Advanced)" 4. Choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." 5. Choose the "USB Mass Storage Device" and hit next |
Hi! Can some1 plz tell me what playback range is? all range, selected range?!
|
Hey guys, i wanted to ask that can u make your own playlists in the Sony A810? If yes, then what is the limit?
|
nope, no playlists on the player itself, you have to use windows media player to make the lists or import lists into wmp and then transfer them over.
I've had about 7 different playlists on the device and I am sure you can add more. |
i have one question.
does the s61x (or a81x) save your playing history,so you could sinchronize it with last.fm? |
