Battery Taking a Crap

Well it looks like my battery is finally dying... anyone know where I could get a new or good replacement one? I checked eBay but no luck :(

Thanks guys! :)

What about Insignia customer service?

41 bucks from best buy..

Personally I'd look at buying a used Pilot from eBay's best buy outlet before buying a new battery. The average price of a used Pilot is less now than a replacement battery.

I had a similar situation, where the battery would drain out within 10 minutes even after a full charge. But before ordering a replacement battery, I wanted to see if the difficulty of changing it.
So I opened the cover, looked at the battery, its connection etc., and then reassembled it. That seems to have done something because the battery now started to keep the charge and the drain issue was gone.

My guess is that due to the poor construction of the player, pressure on the player may have caused the battery connection to become unstable.

Try and see if this fixes your player issue.

Good idea, I'll try this tonight :)

I'll have to try it too. I love the pilot, but the build quality is horrible.

I just received my new broken pilot from ebay. Funny thing is, my current Pilot started charging haha.

AnitaBath 11-26-2008 04:06 PM

The price for new a new battery is now $55.31 + $9.95 shipping! eBay seller Global Trader has "Genuine Insignia Battery" for $9.75 with free shipping. Mine arrived today. It looks ok and I'm charging it now. Wish me luck, please.

covertrussian 11-26-2008 09:56 PM

Good luck, let me know how it goes, I might buy another :D

AnitaBath 11-27-2008 07:04 PM

The battery took a full charge in just over 4 hours. I set the pilot to repeat 1 song, volume to 15, and to blank the screen. It was still playing after 20 hours but dead before 22 hours. That's not bad for under $10! :p

Dammit.. My insignia pilot battery is dying also.. Is that global site really worth it? Please let me know.. Convert, did you get a replacement battery yet?

Wow.. On ebay, they have a bunch of insignia pilot accessories for a really low price.

dhartsoc 12-13-2008 11:19 PM

Wow... can't believe that batteries are being unloaded at that price. My battery is definitely showing weakness after a year's use. Where once I could get 20 or so hours out of it... now it is more like 8-10 hours. Thanks for the heads up

Dana

I bought a whole new 8GB player, and it's good because my USB port broke on the original player. The 8GB that I bought had a broken screen, so just gonna swap those and call it a day :)

SaruNinja 12-14-2008 08:49 PM

All this talk about replacements....i'm getting worried that i might have to either get a replacement battery for my pilot or just get a Sandisk/Sansa brand mp3 player or something. I didn't expect the Pilot to just die off within a year of its release...
:/

covertrussian 12-15-2008 06:31 PM

Well my USB port also broke, so I bought a broken screened one, and it turns out who ever designed the Pilot decided replacing the screen was not necessary thus the screen is basically not replaceable without the right soldering iron and other tools.

I now have two dead Pilots and deciding if it's worth buying another one :(

Is your battery still working? How is it they can sell the battery for $10. Sounds too good to be true.

Check out this website $41 for a battery.

My battery is almost one year old in a week, and it is also not holding a charge long anymore. I love this player, guess I will have to decide to replace the battery.

AnitaBath 01-05-2009 07:57 AM

Still working.

Still lasting a good long while. I imagine the batteries are pulled from broken players. You should ask Global Trader.

That is why I have never ordered from Ebay, too risky. I don't need the headache.
