E100 thinks adapter connected when it is not..?
I have had my E100 for about 10 months now, and only in the last month it has started to display the charging symbol (battery filling up) every time it is turned on.
This happens whether it is plugged in or not! You turn it on, and it says "Adapter Connected" and asks whether to "Power only" or "Power & Play". I have to choose Power and play to be able to listen to music etc.

This doesn't seem to have affected playablity or chargability in any way other than the startup and the symbol so it's no big deal, just a bit annoying...

Any suggestions??? Anyone else experience this?

Hello. Just in the last couple of weeks my E100 has started to have this problem as well. As kennef said, it doesn't affect it's ability to play music which is good. However, it does cause a few problems. I have to manually turn off when I finish using it, as the charge problem overrides my shutdown settings. Also, and this is the worst of all, I can no longer add anything to the player, as it gets stuck on the 'USB Connected - MTP' screen after I sync it. This means it never 'generates' the database and I have to reset or power off the player.

I am just curious as to how you got a replacement Guin. Did you email them?

I'm from Germany. We have good customer guarantees. I went to my vendor and he handled it out with iRiver. It took round about 32 weeks.

Well in any case, I've discovered how to work around the problem. After adding music through Windows Media Player, I simply remove the USB cable from the player, then reattach it. After a few seconds, the 'Generating Database' screen comes up and loads the music onto the player. Then I can simply remove the USB cable from the player and play the new music, video, etc.
