Cowon E2 4gb for $65
|
$65 for a 4 GB player player without a screen? A 4 GB Clip+ is under $45. The Clip+ has a screen and many other features. A Sandisk Slotmusic player plus a 4 GB micro SDHC card is only around $30.
Why buy a player without a screen, when the tiny Clip+ with a screen is so inexpensive? I don't get it. |
Yeah JK98 - I agree, it's a piece of shit.

Why didn't Cowon make a player to compete against the Clip+? I am talking about something better than the Clip+, with at least 4GB, a display, a built in clip, and a card slot that retails for under $50?

For me it's just a completely different experience - a totally new sensation.
The Clip+ is excellent and can do a lot - screen, sd card slot, fm record etc.. But the E2 sounds great - it looks great, and when its around my neck blind navigation is easy. When I'm outside I don't want a player I have to look at. So I bought 2 for different music genres. I want a green one next (not keen on the gunmetal or black). |
The long refresh times on the Clip+ happen when people put a 16 GB card in it crammed with files. If they leave it without a card, I doubt refresh times will be so long. As for BBE, I don't care about that, and probably wouldn't even use it if my player had it. The fact is that there really isn't any good competition against the Clip+. I would love to see high quality players from other makers that have 4 GB,a built in clip, a card slot, good sound quality, and a display for under $50. Ideally the others would have longer battery life than the Clip+.

I'd say SQ wise, with good iems, the E2 is a good alternative to the Clip+ - certainly for me, as well as the additional reasons I listed above.
Your player would only ever have BBE if you bought a Cowon. |
