(Zen Lock) - Accelerometer Based Lock

I didn't feel motivated to work on my Tower Defense game tonight so I made this instead.

Basically it's an application that if the Zen is moved it will sound an alarm. Someone requested it in the Application suggestion thread and it sounded like fun.

It has 2 drawbacks. First is that if you have headphones plugged in you can't output to the speaker. So you must have the headphones unplugged if you want this to work. (Yes I tried audio.channel()). The other drawback is if the player goes into lock or sleep mode(more than 5-10 minutes) the application won't work.

Note: If the alarm goes off or not you hold the home button to disable the application.

It hasn't been updated for the most recent firmware yet. You'll have to wait until ThievingSix updates it.

Mr Wunderbar 04-02-2010 03:25 PM

it could do with being a bit more sensitive, i don't know how much of that is just the zen itself

There is nothing wrong with the application. Which firmware are you running? It hasn't been updated for Firmware 1.12.08 and 1.20.08 I guess:

Then it won't work, this application isn't compatible with such a new firmware.

the dead guy 01-04-2011 10:02 AM

Can you please update this. it seems like a cool app and its a shame we cant use it

jbob182 01-04-2011 03:27 PM

If i can get ahold of the source ( or if someone would like to decompile it ( currently my decompiler is not working right)) then i will change the accelerometer to work with the newest version

Why? Such a thing like this should be pretty easy to make from scratch, it's not very complicated. Unless of course I'm underestimating the inaccuracy of the accelerometer and the length you have to go to to make it stable.

I would'v liked the source just because it would be alot simpliar to change a couple lines.

Anyway i finished a new version , the player make a noise at a high frequency when moved now, i am just tweeking the accelermeter right now, when finished i will upload it.

Oh and by the way it is pretty loud.

jameswalker101 06-26-2011 06:50 AM

it doesn't work on my Zen... :-(

is it possible to update it for the latest firmware?

Habhome 06-26-2011 07:51 AM

It should very well be possible to do it, I don't have the source code though, but I think jbob might, above post suggests he at least has modified it once before.
