Five new Archos tablets
It's on their website but I don't see prices. Detailed specs are with each product. Looks like a 2", 3", 4", 7" and 10" all with Android. Says the 2" is under $100. I guess they are trying to match the new Ipod announcements Sept 1.

Thanks bascom. Man, I know diddly squat about Archos, but that sub 100USD thing looks kinda cool :D
Actually, they all look nice ATM imo... |
the 28 looks pretty good for $100
Here are prices:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-...?tag=mncol;txt Archos 2.8", $99 Archos 3.2", $150 Archos 4.3", $199 Archos 7.0", $275 for an 8GB model, or $350 for 250GB Archos 10.1", $300 for 8GB and $350 for 16GB |
Only 8GBs for the 28 and 32 w/no expandable memory. 32 is supposed to be able to playback HD videos. Don't see the point with so little memory. But I still like this range of PMPs/tablets.
The 7" and 10" look very good. I have the Archos 5 Android but I was thinking of something bigger and a faster processor with built in HDMI out and flash video is very very appealing.
The Archos 28 looks really nice =D and under $100 bucks, damn !
btw, they're not trying to compete with apple on this one, regarding announcement date anyhow.
the IFA (consumer electronics fair) officially starts in a few days and they're going to showcase it there. oh, and actually the devices were leaked on 24. august already so, no apple hasn't got to do anything with this. |
OK but they look like competitors for the iPod touch and iPad. Will be interesting to see new ipods today.
Wow these devices look pretty good. I would say I am strongly interested in the 7" device. Great price points. Just hope they are coming to Canada. Best Buy hello!!
I am disappointed that the 43 doesn't have a capacitive screen. there are a lot of 7" android tablets coming out, I was hoping for something a bit more... portable. I m gonna go poke around on an Archos5 and see if I can live with resistive touch.
The resistive does not bother me but I am not very happy with a 4.3 " screen. If it was a new version of the Archos 5 that would be my choice but as i want something for ereading too anything smaller than the 5 would be too small as I have tried the 5 out and it seemed adequate but borderline.
Resistive screens are useless on Android devices. They are made for capacitive, and I'll go as far as say they don't work properly with resistive screens.
Archos didn't manage to get ONE Android device working properly last year (Archos 5), I don't expect them to suddenly be able to do it with 5... As awesome as their stuff looks on paper, history would suggest they fuck it up in some major way that you wouldn't be able to predict exactly beforehand. Archos is simply one of those companies that I no longer take seriously because they are as aware of their own limitations as someone who jumps off of grand canyon believing they can sprout wings if they want it enough |
that new video was impressive!!
does the 28 come out this month or october?
Quote:
oh and it seems you can order the 32 already. |
I like that 43 video. I really like the look of that and as long as the reviews are positive I can see myself purchasing it.
Archos having intergrated memory?
Does anyone know if the SD Card slot will be integrated with the flash memory?
wow, these things look amazing, especially the 28 for $100. |
I have been looking for a replacement for my Cowon O2 for about 6-months now. Mine still works, but just in case it bricks, these do look interesting.
We'll see on whether they have made these truly usable or not. |
