Samsung YP-GH1
The GP 5.8 (YP-GP1) has not reached Europe or the US yet that Samsung is already working on a new Galaxy Player, the YP-GH1.
I just spotted it on the bluetooth.org website: https://www.bluetooth.org/tpg/QLI_viewQDL.cfm?qid=20096 All we know for now is that it will feature a Bluetooth 4.0 chip. We can reasonably expect it to run Android 4.0 like the GP 5.8. |
Good catch, unfortunately not enough info yet ... but what's up with those names :D

Still a bigger screen?
Galaxy Player 6.4? :D |
Hey, it has a link for "PICS". It's misleading though, as there aren't any images there.

YP-GP1 and most likely YP-GH1. Sad news, Korean blogger likeraser just informed me that Samsung canceled the release of new YP-GH1. It got its Wifi and Bluetooth certification end of 2012 so we expected it to show up at the CES 2013 early January but it didn't... The official reason that likeraser has been told is an issue in the internal review. But he rather speculates the real reason is because of TI winding down their operations in OMAP chips. Indeed, the YP-GP1 is powered by a TI OMAP 4430 1GHz and the YP-GH1 was due to use it too. Let's hope Samsung will change their mind otherwise there won't be any new Galaxy Player before at least several months. Indeed, no other model has shown up on the bluetooth.org website since then. In the past, Samsung already canceled the release of YP-H1 (IceTouch), YP-W1 (MyFit) and YP-MB2. source: http://blog.naver.com/LikEraser/20177973322 |
Likeraser got an official reply from the Galaxy Player business dept:
The Galaxy Players line is not dead yet. That means there should be a new Galaxy Player sooner or later but no more information for now. I don't know if this is true for Korea only or also for Europe and North America. |
this is some uplifting news. lets hope it is true. i just got another refurbished sgp 5.0 from amazon as a backup. i would love to see some new models
