Nokia Lumia 620 announced, Lumia 920T arrives in China
Nokia made two fairly large announcements today, showing off the new Nokia Lumia 620 at LeWeb and launching the Nokia Lumia 920T in China. Both of which, of course, run Windows Phone 8.
The most affordable Windows Phone to date at $249, the Lumia 620 packs a 3.8-inch 800 x 480 TFT ClearBlack display, a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, a 5MP camera, 512MB of RAM, and 8GB of storage plus a microSD card slot for up to an additional 64GB. It even comes with NFC and 14.6 hours of talk time on GSM and 9.9 hours of talk time on WCDMA. Thatís not bad for a $249 phone off-contract.
Visually, the Lumia 620 is one of the most striking Lumias yet. Itís made with a new ďdual-shot polycarbonate molding process,Ē which gives the device a layered-color effect that almost reminds me of the original Zune 30. The device will be released in Q1 2013 in white, black, cyan, magenta, orange, and lime green. If youíre not a fan of the color Ė or you have a change of mood Ė youíll be able to swap out the shell for a different color. In fact, each device also comes with a second shell included in the box.
The Lumia 920T, on the other hand, represents a number of firsts for the Finnish manufacturer. Itís the first Windows Phone 8 handset to be sold in China, itís the first Windows Phone to be sold on China Mobile, and itís the first device to support Chinaís TD-SCDMA 3G standard. Other than that, itís practically the same as the Lumia 920, which has been flying off of the shelves on AT&T. The Lumia 920T will be made available in black, white, yellow, and red, and orders for the device are expected to go live by the end of the year.
Finally, Nokia announced that Windows Phone has surpassed the 50,000 app milestone in China Ė the Windows Phone Store has more than 120,000 apps in the US Ė and the Finnish manufacturer is working to bring wireless charging to Beijing Airport VIP lounges.
What do you think of these two devices?
