Anti-aliasing makes use of greyscale and doesn't make much sense on a bitmap display.

The theme you are using sets 13-Nimbus.fnt as the default font, but (for example) uses 08-Rockfont.fnt, 08-Nedore.fnt...

Have you tried the Koss KSC75? They clip on the ear and are quite a bit under your budget, but I like the sound quality and find they stay glued to the ear while off-road cycling.
