Because that's the way they are designed. What you're asking for is getting into serious sub-bass territory, and generally subs need a lot more power than a 2-way or 3-way speaker to pump out those...

You really jumped the gun with the call on the i9 not having the same EQ tuning as the S9. My i9 has narrow, normal and wide band tuning as well as the ability to alter the frequency curves.

I've never heard the S9 but I recently bought the i9 and it's fantastic. Has pretty much the same output as the S9 and has the latest JetEffect 3.0 tuning features on it.

It's hard to say how much better it sounds than the X-Fi, that's going to be subjective for each person I would think. The i9 clearly has better tuning options, far more preset EQs and the battery...

Finally made my decision. I've gone for the i9...

Finally made my decision. I've gone for the i9 over the S9. In the end the S9 was larger than I liked. I pick up the i9 tomorrow and will be getting a pair of Klipsch X5 earphones to go with it.

To my knowledge there isn't much out there for HD radio at the moment. Blaupunkt is one that have HD radio ready and are decent quality.
