I don't know about headphone amplifiers but mixing two line-level signals into one output with a Y-cable is dangerous for the two amps. Somehow they are fighting against another... or something. :)...

From the earbuds that I have, the Sennheiser MX 470 is the best. The bass is not quite as anemic as with the other earbuds. Sennheiser also has the model MX 471 that is meant for smaller ears...

Least sensitive IEM that I have is Sony MH1c. It's a headset for Android phones.

Even less sensitive could be phones with an analogue volume control. I don't know if there exists such IEMs.
