well then,, this may benefit you... sansa clip exactly does rec'd fm..but because of licensing, it will not rec'd directly as mp3--wav only.. i know of others also,, and some rec'd directly to mp3.....

simple question that i cant find any info:: since it isnt specified that it will rec'd in MP3, should i assume that it only records in WAV? if it does do mp3, does it give opts for bit rate?...

have you tried deleting all folders in mtp and msc? then update FW..or format then update? my guess is it wont format because running processes of clip.. maybe use "unlocker" to kill any hidden...
