I wonder if the player got stuck boosted ? That happened to me once after USB unplug and it reduced battery life a lot. Under debug CPU frequency you can see if the boost counter is greater than 0.

Tags on wav files aren't really standard so software may not recognize them at all. I'd be surprised if it didn't understand flac tags though.

If the boost counter is stuck above 1, it means the USB didn't unboost, and so the CPU is stuck in a high power state. If it goes up to 1 or 3 and doesn't go back to zero thats probably a bug...
