you can always get an otg cable to make up for the lack of microsd card slot. Not as pretty but it should be good enough.
Once you get some custom roms and kernels on the nexus 7 it completely blows...

Screen is average at best. I really wish Samsung would stop putting low resolution screens on these devices. 800 x 480 on a 5 inch screen? 960 x 540 on a 5.8 screen? Cmon on!

neither. at this point i'd recommend getting a used android phone like a used verizon galaxy nexus and use that. the 5.0 is too slow and the 5.8 looks like its going to be pretty slow for the money...
