Let me see what I can do with them. Ideally they would be PNG images, not JPEG. JPEG cannot describe an alpha-channel, which is needed for scaling purposes.

Yes, you can do that. I've heard reports that the Fuze itself may well remove any playlist that it finds during the database update if it happens to be on the uSD Card though. YMMV, so give it a try....
