The Clip+ with Rockbox should be very good. I have a Rockboxed Fuze and it is pretty comparable to my old Cowon S9, which has a very similar sound signature to the J3. I preferred Cowon's BBE...

500MHz processor...so this has the same amount of power as an S9. That, coupled with the mediocre battery and strange skinning is making me seriously lean toward Samsung's new Galaxy Player instead....
