Thanks for the suggestion, but I checked the "Unknown" listing in the "Artist" menu on my Sansa, and the missing tracks aren't there, either.

I guess as a next step I'll delete all of the tracks...

OK, I've checked it out and apparently it's not a Sansa Rhapsody, just a regular e280 with a mislabeled back plate. Weird. No sign that I can spot that it's a refurb, and it's got the right amount...
