I just got a new U5 with 1.34 firmware and it doesn't recognize flacs. According to Samsung's website, the U5 does support flacs, and I've seen a few threads here that suggest other people are able to play flacs. What do I need to do to make it play flacs? I haven't tried the EmoDio app yet because in my experience the software that comes with mp3 players is worthless.

upgrade to firmware 1.51 (search this forum) and you'll be fine.

Thanks. That leads to my next question: how do I update? I downloaded the zipped .rom update, but I don't know how to install it. EmoDio doesn't provide the option to update (it's greyed), and I've read elsewhere that just dropping it into the system folder might be dangerous.

I figured it out. Set the PC Connection to MSC, copy the .rom file to the System folder, and voila!
