I got the weekly Zune email today, only to find that:
- the offered free song would cost 79 points, and - my previous balance of 1000 points was now zero. Anyone else have this happen? On a side note, I've been noticing those "free" songs often have DRM in them, and can't be synced/copied to any other device. So much for free. |

Dude, they're free, don't complain much.
Occasionally the database will mess up and revert to the original price. If you wait around a bit, it will usually become free again, unless you missed it. Wait a day on the points issue and then call support.

Bumping this in case DaveMac will offer of an opinion of the missing points.
Dave: Is the points system going away? If so, will any points left on a account be converted to equivelant money, or just disappear like my 1000 or so points have? |

I honestly don't know - my account still shows points, so I don't see a change so far.
I do know that the phone Marketplace will be regular currency based. As I've said before, you can firmly count me in the anti-points crowd, so if I learn anything I can share, I'll pass it on. Cheers, Dave.

Thanks, Dave. The points I had in my account were all MS gifts for screwing up my initial Zune HD order. Suddenly my account was zero, the day I started this thread. And apparently the free songs offered every now and then require at least some points in the system or you can't "buy" them for $0/0 points. Enough of a flaw to make me warn folks against the marketplace.
