Longing for my lost Clip+ for half a year, I finally got my Clip Zip two days ago.
Yesterday I installed Rockbox (out already!) and today I spent quite a few hours making a wps theme.

Changelog

• Big 84x84 album art
• Track, title, artist, album, year (one scrolling line)
• Volume bar
• Battery bar
• Stereo peak meters
• Progress bar
• Time elapsed and remaining

Some icons made by DFKT: Playback, repeat, hold, memory

It's actually just a WPS screen, not a full theme. Very interesting approach to dealing with the limited screen space.

Yep, only wps. I just use default rockbox base theme with Nedore font and your status bar.

Yes, now I can see the full-sized screenshot in your post. The BMP you attached earlier only showed up black for me.

This is the best WPS I've seen so far. Great work! The scrolling text at the top is too tiny for me. I may try to edit the WPS and remove it. I wish there was a hotkey to toggle the album art off to see the info behind it.

The hotkey should be PAUSE.

Yep--take a look at this WPS for the Clip+, which has a bunch of alternating screens, depending on key press.

Uberadri, cool idea for a WPS. It works on my player fine if I select dfkt's theme first and then select your WPS.

I love your theme, but why the pause button? If you press the pause button, the music pauses (obviously). It would be way better to put it on the opposite button, the playlist-button. That one is not used for anything yet.

Great theme. I made some tweaks of my own to suit my tastes.

- solid progress bar to support cue sheets
- dynamic progress bar size to support tracks over 10min & 60 min
- alternating sublines for artist/title/album
- generic cover art image for tracks with no cover art
- minimal info screen; only displayed when paused
- total track time displayed instead of remaining time

You have to manually select the BigAlbumArt2 WPS.

Have to agree with Wiebe on this one - makes more sense to map the info screen(s) to the playlist or even better, the select (center) button, so it would then behave like the Clip+ when it's select button is pressed. I would rather have the album art full screen (that's what I bought a CZ for ), then hit select and view all the info, even if I needed to toggle thru several screens. What about it someone, can a theme be made like this, with a font that's big enough to read!?

Still a lot to learn for me since this is the first of my players to get Rockboxed, the theme-making syntax looks waaaaaay too cryptic for me to deal with right now!

Nope. I've seen a whopping four themes for the Zip at this point, none of which are what you describe.

I was able to alter a theme .wps file to display album art full screen on volume up/down change. Not the most ideal buttons to use for this, but I like it better than the play/pause button, and select and menu buttons cannot be used as I understand it. In theory this hack could be done for any of the current themes (with a little trial and error).

To start I replaced the Album Art/Info Viewport Conditional line:

%?C<%Vd(a)|%Vd(b)>

with this:

#Display album art via vol up/down (info otherwise):
%?mv(5.0)<%?C<%Vd(a)|%Vd(b)>|%Vd(b)>

OR this ( I have not tested it this way, but *should* work):

#Display info via vol up/down (album art otherwise):
%?mv(5.0)<%?C<%Vd(b)|%Vd(a)>|%Vd(a)>

The "5.0" displays album art (or info) for 5 sec., change to suit your own taste. Now the slightly tricky part: you have alter any "static" viewport code, such as %V(2,65,92,5,-), and make sure it displays only in the "b" viewport. So this:

%V(2,65,92,5,-)

becomes this:

%Vl(b,2,65,92,5,-)

There may be several lines that need to be done that way.

Here is the actual code that displays the album art:

#Full screen viewport "a" (Album Art)
%Vl(a,0,0,96,96,-)
%Cl(0,0,96,96,c,c)
%Cd

The above code lines were at the end of the .wps file, I just changed the params for the viewport to 0,0,96,96. No guarantee any of this will work if this is anywhere else in the file.
