X5L Locks up when trying to play

Hi guys, I got the X5L awhile ago and it works great. Or it did until it stopped. It played fine then later in the day when I tried to play a track, the hourglass spins indefinately and is unresponsive to any and all controls except the reset. I can't even turn it off without resetting it. It "operates" fine, browsing menus, but the second i tell it to play a song, lock out. I left it sitting uncharged for a good couple of months because I'd lost the subpack and couldn't get a replacement. Even though it charged back up again fine, could this have anything to do with that?

I appreciate whatever insight you might have.
