Just got the X5, and wondering about people's opinions on using Rockbox or sticking with the standard firmware? Or anything in between? I've heard that while Rockbox offers a lot, the X5 will also lose picture and movie functionality...
Opinions? Thanks! |

Original firmware sounds better to me, because of the BBE audio enhancements.
Since the X5 isn't crippled in any way, like the iPod, Sansa or Creative players, I see no real need for Rockbox. Possible advantages of Rockbox are gapless playback and MPC support - can't think of anything else that's lacking on the X5 (IMO). You can have both, since it's possible to dual-boot the original firmware and Rockbox... so nothing to lose there.
