Viewing .txt files on my Zvm

Hi,

I own a Zen vision:m and I was wondering if I can upload and display text files or any other document type. How can I do that?

um... plain text files, not really. You can make a data partition and store whatever you like, but you can't read them on the Zen.

If you use Outlook, you can store tasks and read them. (Did that with a grocery list, groovy.) I suppose you could do the same with the Creative Organizer thingamabob.

or if wanna get real creative (ha ha ha), you could paste the text into photoshop and save it as a image document. But why do that?

A standard text reader would be a nice addition in future firmware upgrades.

I believe you can do that even without Outlook. This is the same suggestion I tell people when they ask this question...to me it just seems way easier than making a photo of words..because at least when you sync a task, the font size is readable without having to zoom.

How do you do it without Outlook or the creative software? I got rid of all of it and i dont want it back. are there any other programs that can sync tasks?

It quickly converts text into j pegs, makes them easily viewable. Just make sure to set the resolution right.

I've heard the Google calendar will work.

Myself, I just use Media Explorer, but I see you removed it.

you can't get the words to wrap correctly. they just go on to the next line instead of starting on the next line.

im pretty sure you have to have Creatives Media Explorer to edit the Personal Information (calendar, tasks, contacts..)

a nice feature would be a development environment with a SDK...
That would be awesome... we would be able to program our zen apps... we could share them.. and so on...
I think it will remain a dream for a while before they do that..

Ok - maybe I'm an idiot... But that program that converts text into jpegs - fumi2kick.com - is all in chinese or some language that I don't read. I downloaded the program and tested it on a small text doc, and it turned it into chinese!! What am I doing wrong?

That would be Japanese... and I'm thinking you might have gotten hold of the wrong version. Try this one instead.

I have that program, it's very good, by the way if you were ever wanting to have books on your Zen which is what i have done in the past use this page, it's where i got the program you have.
