Newegg.com also usually has nice deals on memory cards. They have an A-Data 8GB SDHC card for $59.00, I believe. I got my 16GB A-Data Card for my MicroPhoto mod and it works great and the price was definitely right at $125.00 for 16GB.

Default SDHC Card Compatability Thread

Creative doesn't seem to be giving anybody a definitive answer on if SDHC's work with the zen or not. Does anybody know anything about this? Also, if you've seen one work, could you list the model of the card? Thanks!

Here's a confirmed list of compatible SDHC cards from the Creative site:

http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/zen/?nav=sdcard

It's probably a good idea to keep this thread updated though...

I would anticipate that ALL SHDC cards are compatible?

I have the Lexar (el-cheapo) 4GB SDHC (Speed Rating 2), and it's perfect, though not listed on Creative's site. I've also thrown all manner of standard SD's at it without any problems

Default New Zen SD Card Compatibility List Thread

I started a Thread about the new Zen's SD Card compatiblility over at the Creative Forums:
http://forums.creative.com/creativel...p=true#M203235
Would be nice if you all can add some info about compatible or non-compatble cards you use(d) that are not listed on the official list of creative: http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/zen/?nav=sdcard

You can also add the info here and I edit my other thread from time to time to keep it up to date.

Thank you all.

Default Compare Zen 8GB + SD card -vs- Zen 16GB

I just bought the 8GB Zen for $150 from Frys. If I buy an 8GB SD card that might cost me an additional $70-$110 (assuming I don't look for any deals). Creative is selling the 16GB Zen for $250.

Was buying the 8GB Zen the right choice vs. the 16GB Zen? I'm guessing that I can get an 8GB SD card for as low as $40 or $50 so that is one reason to go with the 8GB rather than the 16GB.

Are there any other reasons to go with one over the other?

Also, what is the deal with "class" types when referring to SDHC cards? Do I want to go with a higher number when researching cards for my Zen?

Thanks.

Untill the SD card problem is fixed, then the better choice would've been the 16gb... even so it might be better unless you're saving a good deal of money cuz with the 16gb you can make it a 32gb or 48gb with the new sized SD cards (assuming you have the money for them!)

Default buy the 16gb not a 8gb with card

for your info if you use a sd in your unit and are accessing info from the card your battery like will be cut in half. i know since i owned a cowon d2 for six months and this was well documented by cowon. in the cowan case it was not an issue since the battery life was 50 hours music and 10 hours video. with the zen it would be a problem.

also even cowon which is #1 in software updates could not fix all the bugs with sd cards to date and they have had the sd card slot for over 1 year. if you have music on the card dont expect any album art to show up...even though the music is integrated into your libray.

i just purchased an 8gb zen and i will not use the sd card.

But how do you know that the issue is there with the Zen? Did you test it or just draw similarities between two different players? It would be interesting to see what the battery life would be when using the SD card. As far as I know the SD card doesn't require all that much power to begin with so I don't see why it would cut the battery life especially whenever I know that a SD card doesn't need that much power.

Default money to burn????

if you have money to waste try it....

mp3 units with external cards eat more battery time regardless of the brand.
