No you can't read ebooks on it, so hopefully that wasn't one of the reasons you bought one. There are some programs that will convert text files into jpegs so you can view them on the zvm but I haven't tried that. I understand there are people who have had great success with it...seems like a lot of work for not much pay off, but to each their own.

Yes, it is possible. Check this program called TXT2JPG that will convert text to optimal jpgs/bmps. here
it's on franch but its really easy to get the point. bananas... it even preserves most of the formatting and the pics. amazing. enjoy |

Thanks for your thoughts anyway guy's might try the jpeg conversion when I have nothing else to do.
CBT's are computer based training videos, would be very helpful if I could convert them to be played on the zen, would make good use of the hours spent on the train comuting. |

Although ebooks can't be read (would you really want to at that screen size?), audio books are a great option for the ZVM. While the best option, Audible, is a pay service (and a great one, at that), I've seen mention online of free MP3 audio books for download, although I haven't yet tried. I wonder if text-to-speech technology has become good enough to allow conversion of an ebook into something you could tolerate listening to for a few hours?

I'll have to try txt 2 jpg. I'd like having books on my zen. I just got some dilbert comics on my zen recently, so I'm interested in other print media too.

RasterBook is another program for converting eBooks in html to jpgs which worked great for me. You can find it here: http://a-i-studio.com/rasterbook/

Use that and the instructions they give, the 2nd program "bulk rename" is good if it's an actual book your putting on. |

A word of warning - I used a program that converted txt to jpg - one short chapter was over 85 pages and over 200m of space! I've gone back to my old iPAC pda for reading ebooks... At only 32m it has plenty of space for tons of ebooks.
