I just got a laptop, and unlike with Windows XP, I can't "safely remove" my creative ZVM. I'm having a hard time with Windows Vista.
There's no "safely remove" icon so I just close my eyes, hope for the best, and unplug the usb cable. I just realized that this could cause damage to my player but I can't find a solution elsewhere. Does anyone know what I can do?

The ZVM doesn't need to be "safely disconnected", look on the screen of the player and if the sync arrows are moving/rotating don't disconnect, if they are not then you can unplug it.

Just to clarify: Don't just glance at the screen. You need to actually watch it for a few seconds. If, within 3-5 seconds, the arrows have not moved, then it is safe to unplug.

yeah and exit programs that use the players, like your sync manager, and windows explorer etc before you unplug it just to be safe, well you don't have to close explorer just make sure it is not in the ZVM storage media

I tried connecting my player to the laptop and I just noticed that the arrows do stop before I disconnect the usb cable.
Thanks for the quick replies!
