I bought a Zune without researching, and found that it's more locked down than even the iPod. So, I've decided to get something else.
Lately, I've had my eye on the Vision: M. One of my biggest problems with the Zune is that, even though it's a Microsoft product, it'd not compatible with Windows Media Player. That strikes me as a big mistake on MS' part. My question, therefore, is this: does the Vision:M cooperate well with Windows Media Player? All of my music is in WMA lossless, so I'd like a device that can sync with my entire music collection, after the software (WMP) compresses the files while syncing on the fly. If anyone has any experience with this, please let me know. Thanks! |

First the bad news: The ZVM does not play WMA-lossless.
With that said, the ZVM works very nicely with WMP -- particularly WMP11. Although I can't be certain what would happen, I'm pretty sure WMP will automatically convert your lossless files to standard WMA before syncing to the ZVM.

Thanks, ZC. I'll get it in a day or so. My hope is that I can simply compress my 165G music collection onto the Zen, using WMP.
On paper it sounds like it can indeed do just that. |
