Aside from the bug I described in the requests thread, I've had a recurring problem playing two specific Vorbis files- the system hangs when I try to play them, or in a playlist skips over them (and as soon as I try to go back to them, the next button I hit will make the player freeze). The two Vorbis files in question were done in a batch job (at q=4.5) with a bunch of other files that play fine.
I've also got an issue where, three times now, it's come to the end of a song on the 'now playing' list and reset itself to the default 'play all' playlist. I've been able to repeat that; another issue where it hung while rewinding a file I haven't been able to. I also seem to have a strange issue where a few properly tagged Vorbis files don't have their tags recognized at all, or have an extra character at the end. That seems to be a different issue, repaired by re-saving the tags in Winamp. I've been using USB Mass Storage mode exclusively since I got it. Is it defective? Quirky is one thing, but this is making me suspicious. I picked this thing up on Wednesday, so I can definitely still exchange it. |

Does it occur consistently on the same tracks? If so, it is a Firmware problem, not a hardware problem. If you can find a file which consistently fails, then send me a Private Message and I will reproduce the issue.

Actually, I did find something peculiar about the files it fails on; they were both empty (0 bytes) both on the device and in my music library. Not sure why, but I can see how the player might act unpredictably in that situation.
So failing that, I only have intermittent problems with playlists resetting. |
