I've noticed the View uses the Genre tag and the name podcast for Podcasts but putting audiobook in the Genre doesn't work for Audiobooks (i.e - They're not in the Audiobook list).
Any ideas? Thanks p.s - If anyone has any proper Audiobooks could they please check what the Genre name is please? My Audiobooks are from CD. |

Surely someone has Audiobooks on their View?

I do. And for now they live in my music collection with an "Audiobook" genre tag. I think the "Audiobooks" category in the View's menu is looking for Audible branded books. Just a guess.
I love this device, but the menus' structures leave something to be desired. Also, locking menu selections to proprietary formats for a genre is not what I would choose, but there are quite a few fans of things like Audible. |

Thanks Engram. I'll try Audiobook (with a capitol A) just in case.
The Podcast menu isn't proprietary. You can put any file in it as long as it's genre is podcast (Podcast may work too). |

It's not "Audiobook"
. I guess you're right about it looking for official Audiobooks. Are official ones in several MP3 files or one large one? I have mine split up in to parts. |

Yes Audiobooks is only used by Audible.
But, I saw a post on the Sansa forum, and it appears that if you change the extension to .aa instead of .mp3, and copy them to the Audiobooks folder then they should appear in the Audiobooks category. I haven't tried this myself, so I can't guarentee that it works. |

Thanks.
It's weird as Podcasts aren't resricted in this way. As long as it's got podcast in the genre that's it. Where abouts does the Audiobooks folder need to be? In the Root or Music folder? I run it in MSC Mode. Thanks. EDIT: I just tried that, by renaming an MP3 file (128Kbs CBR) to .aa and it did indeed put it into the Audiobook section but it used the filename for the listing (not ID3) and when I tried to play it it said "Not Activated" and promptly reset the View. In short it doesn't work. I didn't bother to copy the file into an Audiobook folder. I don't believe that is necessary, podcasts can be in the MUSIC folder. It sounds like it did what you said it should (put it in the Audiobook section) but it doesn't matter much when it won't play. |
