Default Vision M video fast forward & resume don't work

I have a new Vision M and have several videos stored on it. They play just fine but if I pause and turn off the player, the video will not resume from where I stopped it. Instead, it starts from the beginning.

Also, if I press the fast forward button, the time slider is displayed but nothing happens. When I release the button, the video starts again from the beginning. Same with the rewind button. Tapping the touch pad does nothing, too.

Is this an encoding or conversion issue? My firmware is version 1.40.02. I haven't upgraded the firmware to the latest. Would that help?

Does anyone know what the problem is and, if so, how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

First off, upgrade that firmware. I do not know if it would affect your video navigation problem, but it would mitigate a number of other problems you could potentially have with your ZVM, such as the infamous charging bug.

Now, on to the navigation issue:

Do you still have the Creative videos that came with your player? If so, do they have the same problem? If not, then do you have other videos that may work properly?

If the problem seems to only affect only a few videos while others work, then it seems down to the conversion process used to create the video. If ALL of your videos are affected, then this would suggest a firmware problem.

Thanks for the advice. I upgraded the firmware with no problem. It didn't fix the video playback problem, though. I found and reloaded the original Zen videos and they played just fine, fast forward, rewind, resume., so I knew then that I was having a problem with my conversion. I reconverted a video using DVD Decrypter and iriverter and loaded it onto my ZVM. It played just fine. So, I'm back in business.
