Failed firmware update - now no recovery

My daughter's Zen had been stuck on the Creative logo. I pressed the reset and got to the recovery mode and tried to upload current firmware. However, the firmware upgrade failed but it seemed delete the old firmware., Now, it is stuck on the Creative logo and it will not go into recovery mode.

Is there any way to get back to the recovery mode?

Normally when a Zen does not respond to the reset button, or a combination of reset + holding the "on" button, its because one or both of those buttons is stuck or broken. When you press the reset button, can you feel it move/respond? Or does it feel stuck?

It sounds to me like the hard drive has died. Perhaps try replacing it?
