Talking Impressed or what!!

Typical.................Have just this week purchased the lovely X5 60 gig, and lo & behold X7 on the horizon, still I am very impressed so far with X5, I haven't loaded anything yet, just having a play, keyed in some Radio stations, just generally getting the feel of it.
The manual has got very tiny print, so could you tell me which folder do I drag & drop my MP3 songs, and my audio books.
I already own, a quite old MP3 player -20 gig- a Novatech Novapod, + a 30 gig Creative Zen, and now the X5,...................I do wish I didn't love technology, it would save me a fortune, mind you, my son is like minded, he as just purchased the Nokia N95 549.00, So I have a long way to go, sorry about the ramble..................very interesting forum.
All help gratefully received.

Nah, you can enjoy your X5 for a long time to come.

An announcement from Cowon does usually mean that we will see the X7 in 1 - 1.5 years, considering their speed of development.

You can drag your music anywhere onto the X5 - that's the beauty of not being restricted by any crappy application like WMP or the MTP protocol. I made a folder called "audio" on the X5, so it's the first folder in the list. My audio books are in a seperate folder, called - surprisingly - "audio books". You can make as many subfolders and categories within these folders as you like...

Cheers dfkt.
Do I just drop the folders with my Classical music, into the Digital AV, or just anywhere in the X5 harddrive.
Sorry to be so naive on this subject, but all this ia a big learning curve for me, and I'm enjoying the ride, my 2 sons and my wife think that I am a techno freak, and at my age (59) I should start to slow down, but I can't, anyway the boys bought me a Garmin GPS last month for my birthday, so I am going on a course in the Lake District (UK) later on in the year to learn how to use it.
Once again all help received with sincerest gratitude.

Well, as I said, you can put your music anywhere, in any folders you like.

There should already be a folder called "music" on your X5. You can put your music there, or make a new folder on the X5, with any name you like.

Let's assume your X5 shows up in Windows Explorer as drive F:\ (or any other letter).

You should see the folder F:\Music on the X5 - so you could make a subfolder there, called F:\Music\Classical and drag'n'drop your music into this folder.

Or you could make a folder F:\Classical directly in the main(root) directory of the X5's hard disk - as you like. It's all the same - just do it the way you like it - or do it the same way your music is stored on your PC. That's how I do it.

For example, my preferred structure is "Genre/Artist/Album/Tracknumber - Title.mp3" - that looks like "F:\Audio\Jazz\Dexter Gordon\Our Man In Paris (1963)\03 - Broadway.mp3" or "F:\Audio\Rock\Tom Waits\Rain Dogs (1985)\09 - Time.mp3" on my X5...

I don't know how to explain this in an easier way, it's just the same way you would do it on your computer's hard disk. No magic or restrictions to it.

Hey guys, Iwas gonna create another thread but I think it's better here....

My X5 just arrived last night! Put all my songs in Genre > Filename (I'll put these in artist folders later). I put BBE up to 6 and MachBass at 5 (man this has a lot of bass!) Flat EQ. It freaking sounds amazing! Unbelievable. I never used to listen to songs all the way through but now, I do. I actually find the songs over too quickly. It sounds that good. Maybe the Ipod crowd likes to change songs a lot because their players sound terrible.

Using my denon headset, I need minimal enhancement - the more flat the better. The X5 is actually the only player that can drive this headset. The stock one's are ok but I prefer using my panasonic in-ear phones - by far the one's with the most bass (haven't tried sennheisers). But with any earphones, I found that I could make my music sound excellent. There's so much headroom and customization when it comes to sound with this player. Basically, I can get CD-like quality for all of them. Not so with my old Creative where only a particular type of earphones are suitable.

Ok, about interface, I find I could navigate around this player easier than with an Ipod. You may find this unbelievable but I actually find it easy to get from one point to the other. But I think it's more like going from Nokia to Sony or Samsung. They're both easy once you get used to them. I was actually expecting some difficulty because of some reviews etc...but I believe there's nothing to it - it makes sense to me, in other words. With my Creative, I used to just play by genres and I only had one playlist. I copied it by simply creating genre folders and I use the dynamic playlist system. Only problem is I haven't created artist sub-folders yet, so I have to do lengthy scans - but this is easily rectified. So, no problem.

The joystick is ok but I'm quite worried of it conking out on me. From the reviews this was the other weakpoint. Now, the problem with this is that this is practically the only way to navigate around. But then again, I could order the remote if there are problems.

What can I say, I'm definitely impressed! It's like moving from cassette to cd!

Thanks, dfkt!

Anyway, it's been almost two weeks and I'm getting more and more converts from the Ipod crowd (easy enough). I was this close to buying a second player in case anything happens to this one or if the next model sucks for some reason. I love the X5, man. I hope they don't change it much when the X7 comes along...

Me again, Cowan X5 60gig still up there, sound quality second to none, and a handsome bit of kit which gets the feel good factor.
I have 3 players Creative, Novapod & X5 no competition, hands down winner.
