Default U1 Accident..
So I've accidentally messed up my sisters U1, when trying to install something on it that I thought would help her... I'm thinking I shouldn't of used the root directory.. >_>; It was portable apps.
Would of helped her with some things, but now I'm in trouble as it no longer seems to be able to load or do anything with the PC. ^^;
I can't even seem to format it... help?

Can you still boot the player/go to recovery mode ?

Well I think I got it into recovery mode once, then I tried to use this firmware updater and it turned into a drive again..
And it doesn't boot, it turns on but the loading thing on the player just keeps going to 20% and reseting.

What's the size of the drive when you put the drive into the pc ? Same as it used to be ?

I can't even get to see that, Windows explorer just locks up untill I take it out.

Sorry mate. To be honest I don't have the device, I was just asking the basic questions (next time you post a problem, include the answers (can boot in recovery, drive size changed, what happens exactely) in your post).

I was hoping someone would jump in and continue but seems not. Maybe try to PM the samsung moderator, but remember to be patient a bit.

btw don't panic on the thing I mean there's a chance it'll work especially when your pc recognises it again

Wow, Vista was able to format it and it works again!

So odd that XP would only crash yet Vista saw the problem and knew it needed to be formatted...

You could format it in XP had you gone to disk management mode. But Vista is nicer about helping people out

Good that you got it formatted. Did you have to reload firmware on the device?

No, it just started working right away.

So, um... disk management mode? How do I get to that?? Maybe I should google it.
