My A818 is generally really easy to use under Linux, but I did run in to some problems with different versions of ID3 tags, and I also wanted to avoid art-tagging all of my files when I already had "cover.jpg" files in my album folders. To save me some time, I whipped up a quick Python script that copies files to appropriate (ie: artist/album-based) folders on the Walkman, while doing a few things to them in transit:
* converts the tags to ID3v2.3, which seems to be the version that the Walkman handles best * checks for album art in the folder and embeds it in the tags * checks for disc number tags, and edits the album tag to add "Disc 1" etc. to the end of the album name I've seen a few people mention that they use Linux, so I thought this might come in handy for some of you. You can find the script here: http://blag.linuxgamers.net/?p=15 |
