Default Can I use Creative Zen Micro Wall Charger to charge ZVM?

Hi there,
I've just joined AND just bought ZVM. Not even charged it yet, still admiring it in the box.
I've read all the stuff about using diffferent wall chargers to charge ZVM, and about not using the mini usb port on the dongle... But I also own an old Zen Micro and have an official Creative charger for that. It seems to meet all the specifications needed to charge the ZVM - but it would have to plug into the mini usb port on the dongle (ie the one like the one on the micro). Is it safe to use it on the ZVM? Or do I have to buy another especially for the ZVM?
Hope this isn't a stupid question, I'm new to all this!
P.S. I live in the UK, if that makes a difference.

No, you still can't use it. Official or not it's still not plugging in where it's meant to. Try and get an official charger that goes into the AC port on the bottom. If you can find it i would recommend getting the Zen Vision:M accessory kit. It includes a charger along with a skin, an AV cable and a screen protector.

I got mine in Argos for 25 a while ago but they don't sell it anymore. This is the cheapest i could find in the UK:

Hello Squashbox. Welcome to ABI and congrats on the new ZVM!

No, I would not use it. Do yourself a favor and buy an AC adapter like XJ3F3Y mentioned. Please see the ZVM FAQ's for more info, along with this post. Enjoy!

thanks for the above advice. I'm probably going to buy the official creative ZVM charger, but here's another question:
The creative chargers attach to the DC IN socket on the dongle, but I've seen others for sale on ebay - supposedly designed specifically for the ZVM - that attach straight into the large (USB?) socket on the base of the player. What's the difference? And should I still fork out for the creative charger when the non-official ones are half the price?
Once again, thanks for the advice and sorry if I'm being dumb. I've read all the threads on charging but don't think anyone has covered this exact point!

I don't know as I've never tested one and they may well work, however i wouldn't take the risk. There's a lot of dodgy stuff on ebay and the risk would be too much for me.

Indeed; there is no reason why a charger designed to plug directly into the ZVM's data port would not work - at least in theory. In reality, however, there have been a number of people who have reported using such a charger effectively killed their ZVM, or at least rendered it unable to dock with a computer anymore. That's not to say that all such chargers are unsafe; but the risk seems too high to make trying one a good idea.

I agree; not worth the risk. Especially ones from EBay.
