Questions about the S61x series? Audio quality, customization, etc

I'm seriously considering this player, I have read the review and everything looks great. Although, I do have some concerns:

1) Is the sound output REALLY that bad? How loud it would be compared to other players; using stock earphones compared to high quality ones, etc.
2) Does syncing with other media players (Winamp, Mediamonkey, etc) than WMP create problems? This probably isn't a case, but I ask this in precaution.
3) What kind of customization does the device offer? Customizable wallpapers, user EQ, etc
4) Can the test mode fix any of the volume problems the device may have? The player looks fantastic but the output might be the breaker for me if it's quiet.
5) Any other issues that the player might have? I read that the Sony firmwares are generally stable but again, I ask this in precaution.

Thank you in advance and I hope I won't have any problems if I'm to choose this player

1] the SQ is FANTASTIC! all who've tried it (myself included) can attest to that. Where did you hear it sounded bad?
2] WMP causes the problems: album art is missing, dates missing on tracks, etc. Most would recommend using anything BUT WMP.
3] Only customization is the EQ - PERIOD! No wallpaper, no themes.
4] Test mode will only allow you to remove the volume cap for the EU version of the player. The US and Canada don't need tweaking. It's louder than the 5mw per channel it's rated at.
5] No issues - Sony doesn't release a player until it's finished. The S61X series is great.

What this player does it does WELL!!! The SQ and features on the player are solid and you really couldn't go wrong buying it. Had 1 myself!!!

Well, my friend had an S61x awhile back and he said it sounded horrible, and returned it...I guess either he had a faulty one or something along that .

Other than that, everything seems all good Thank you for the speedy reply and clearing these up for me.
