All the new Sony players have an auto-sleep and power off feature. And the screen saver goes on fast to conserve battery power. You can adjust how long it takes to activate by going to Settings>Common Settings>Screen Saver>Screen Saver Timing. I have the choice of 15/30/60 seconds.

Firmware really doesn't matter as most Sony players all have pretty much the same. Only way there's an update is if they find something wrong w/the current firmware. Probably just has a different menu structure is all. And try connecting it to another computer (after you've restarted your main 1) if you can't get it to sync, may be your comp & not the player.

I have the same walkman model and the screen goes out in a short time to save the
battery. I can change the screensaver to blank or the clock in the settings. Sony says that it will go into power save mode when you turn it off. If no other activity occurs in 4 hours, then it will go completely off. I also don't see anything in the settings for changing the time that screen stays on. No big deal to me as I like the battery to last as long as possible. |
