Oh, ok. Same thing really; zero-byte files. Did you use MediaMonkey to sync?

Oh... ok. I thought you said you were using Mediamonkey now.

Any reason why your not using M3U as the playlist format? Perhaps the Zen is having an issue with converting the PLA files correctly and just simply copying them instead of creating a working recognized playlist file.

So far I am just toying with MM and not really using it yet. Unless I find something I like about it soon, it's not going to get upgraded to my primary program.

I never deliberately selected a playlist format, so I have no idea why it's using .pla. The playlists on the Zen do work fine, except for the repeating of songs annoyance which started this thread.

What program did you use to create them? WMP, I believe defaults to WPL files.

I thought they weren't being recognized?

Sorry I was unclear. I only meant to say that the Zen may not be using the playlist files I see in the directory structure and is using some OTHER files. (Like the ZPL you described.) The files seem extraneous, in light of the info you provided, but that's why I thought I could just replace them manually.

I did create the playlists in WMP and have only editted them in WMP. But I've installed and tried so many audio software tools, I suppose it's possible one of those programs overwrote some setting that it didn't patch when it was uninstalled.

I think we only got off on the topic of regenerating playlists as a workaround for the Zen's habit of repeating songs.

Thanks for all the comments; I have a few things to try to see if I can fix or at least improve the sync process... so I'll sync more often... so my autoplaylists will shuffle themselves more often... which will make the repeat songs on Zen's shuffle mode less annoying.

Yeah, it is usually best to pick one sync/media manager and stick with it. When you start using multiple ones, you usually end up with duplicate files.

Yes, a work around.... It's no problem.

using my workaround, you will probably get duplicates unless you delete all the previous sync results off your player. I've got 130+ Gigs of music, but when i'm ready for a new random 5 gigs on my player, I still delete the previous set. I've never had a problem with dups.
